Default Fully Built 06 STI & Tune @ TheShop

Well, it's been work in progress, a lot of configurations tested, a lot still need to undergo conversions and still a little shy off 500whp mark, I think I'll just quit, but lets see what some of you have to say.

Car: 06 STI
Boost Pressure: 23PSI
Fuel: Straight 93 Octane
Clutch: ACT XTSS w/ Street Disk & ACT Street Lite Flywheel
AFR: 11.2-3:1
Engine Management: Hydra EMS 2.5r15 w/ Accessory Harness & WBo2
Injector: P&L Fuel Rail Kit w/ Precision 1000cc Injectors
Intake Manifold: Cosworth
Headers: GT Spec V2 UEL
Turbo: Ultimate Racing GT3576 .82AR Kit / 44mm EWG / 3 Bolt Uppipe / DP
Engine: Raw1performance Track Series Longblock
Intercooler: SSAC FMIC
CBE: Borla Hush

Comments:

At this level, car's a beast, pulls like crazy, though I'm experiencing some hesitation/bucking when lite on throttle around 2.5-4k/rpm in vacuum and getting little into boost say 1-2psi of boost, I'll try and tighten everything by the new intake manifold, as that's when this issue surfaced.

I left some oil on the TheShop's dyno, seems like my Turbo Oil Drain Line is still fscking leaking, drips down onto dump pipe, crossmember, the whole fscking passenger side undercarriage is in oil!!! Though the bolt wasn't mine Jr!

Thanks to Jr, Jimmy and all TheShop's crew, ahh btw thanks for the BBQ!!! But where was the Alcohol!?!?!

Ha dude! Wow! It was nice meeting you too, I've read so many threads with you sticking a post or two in, it's always nice to match the face with the nickname.

seems to me with what you bolted together you could easily run 30psi and be well over 500whp but i really don't know anything.

Nice! I bet the SSAC FMIC is holding you back, you could swap out just the core and make some nice gains.

That is exactly what Jr and Jimmy said, these cores become really inefficient at higher boost/power levels. I'm actually looking into either Full-Race, Perrin or UR Reversed FMIC's, or if I can get APS 725 used somewhere relatively cheap. Ahh btw thanks for the post, how is your car coming along, saw it at TheShop

I probably would if I were running 100% meth or at least race fuel, but otherwise I wont risk it.

Thanks!!! I do not have AVCS Cams anymore, so can't do any AVCS magic unfortunately, but I first have to log it and see if there are any anomalies in that range.

We were waiting on pistons for a few weeks, then the pistons arrived and the machinist went on vacation lol. So now we are waiting on machine work.

It's funny, it doesn't even feel like it's my car anymore. Every time I see it I'm like "that STI looks sick!" then I realize it's mine

Your hesitation is probably either a weak BOV spring or CL to OL transition issue (then again, I just hate Hydra). Also, what are you using for boost control? a MBC could solve your problems for under $100.

Couple of questions: Are you running the 2.5" or 3" .82 exhaust housing? On a good head setup, that could be some good gains if you have the 2.5" and a cheap investment.

Assuming since you have the Track series from Ron, your running +1mm valves and p&p heads? If so, what kind of cam are you using? Big power to be had here when matched with the rest of the head package.

What kind of exhaust are you running? When you have a good set of heads, this can make a big difference. Edit, I see your on the Borla Hush, Jay could comment more on this, if it is much of a restriction. I run the XR-1 which doesn't have the resonator so I couldn't say.

Just some suggestions.

I'm running a 11psi BOV, Eboost2 EBC, also this hesitation issue came up when we installed the new Cosworth Manifold, GT Spec V2 Headers, a new UR Uppipe to retro-fit the new 3bolt Flange on the GT Specs and Bosch 044 Intank pump.

It is a 3".

Cams are non-avcs 280/280, and yes bigger valves and p&p heads.

I've had couple exhaust combinations, too loud just doesn't do it for me so I will stick with Borla Hush.

Thanks for your suggestions, keep them coming, once I log the car I'll post the logs.

LOL, everything about your motor is better than mine was, and mine made 543whp on that dyno @ 23.5psi on 93oct. All you need is a good FMIC...

No, it's an STI was never a WRX, we just chose to go with non-avcs cams.

If yall want to try swapping the IC core I'll let you try mine on the dyno to see what the HP gain is. All you'd need is some 2.5" to 3" couplers. As long as my car gets put back together afterwards, I don't care, and I'd love to see the result.

That's cool, but I think I'll hold off for now, maybe over the winter I can get a new IC and an AEM EMS, but yeah dude, thanks for the offer.

Man, I think we should take up Jay on his offer. I bet it will make you a believer.

I got your PM. Let me know when you can stop by, or if you want to head out to the track this weekend.
Glad you are happy with the car!

Jr, I believe you, who else should I believe if not a bunch of car geeks. I'll try and make it see what it runs, but not certain yet, my significant other's been b****ing lately, will ring the shop on Friday if I decide to go.

Ok, I've got a new FMIC on order, should be a lot better then the SSAC, now to source the AEM.

BUILTSTI I might actually take you up on that offer, get it tuned on your AEM, download map, and then just put it on my AEM once I'll see it as a better alternative.

Curious to see how much of a difference a better core will make, but nice numbers!
