Default Lowering Springs/Struts/Coilovers For 08-09 2.5I?

Has anyone lowered their 08-09 (Or even 2010 for that matter) 2.5I? If so how did u do it and what components did you use. Get at me!

There aren't a lot of aftermarket suspension upgrades for the 08+ WRX, let alone a 2.5i, besides sway bars and springs. I'd suggest swapping your stock struts with 09 WRX struts, it'll give you a much stiffer ride and better handling. Remember to get 09 struts, the 08s had a mushier suspension.

Yep. You'll need the '09 struts anyway to handle a stiffer/lower spring too. Most peopel seem to blow the 2.5i struts pretty quickly when they do something like add STI Pinks.

When it comes to struts and springs, IIRC, what fits the WRX will fit the 2.5i, so coils for the WRX should fit the 2.5i...I think. Still if all you want is a drop, it's probably cheaper just to pick up 09 WRX OEM struts (you could even find them used), and add the lowering springs of your choice.

Ok good to know, I was jus going to go the lowering springs route, but if the 2.5I struts blow that easily Im gonna make sure I do it right!

You'll hear mixed stories, some people seem to do okay with them for a while, but I've heard far more blown strut stories than I have success stories when it comes to stiffer springs on 2.5i OEM struts. There was a rumor that Rallitek has some springs that would work with the OEM 2.5i set-up, but I don't know if anyone ever confirmed that, or was willing to be the guinea pig for the rest of us.

I had a blown strut on my 09 before I even put my H&R springs on it....
one of the rears was gone and I found it when installing the new springs...

I lowered my 08 OBS(a two tone 2.5i) on a set of BC coils and couldn't be happier. I first lowered it with a set of sti pinks but its very bouncy.

I did this with my last car, lowered it on tein s-techs and as soon as I sat it back on the ground after the install I immediately went in and ordered tein coilovers. Gotta do it right the first time because it ends up being cheaper anyways.

theres actually quite a lot of choices for us...well not that many but still a fair amount. H&R makes good lowering springs, and coilovers. Perrin sells both. i just got my Eibach springs installed and i couldnt be happier. jus the springs though lol. i dont know about teins or any others for tat matter lol. but i do like it.

my only other suspension mod atm is front tower strut. so far the car handles quite well. but for now, gonna play it safe and not drive like an idiot =p

got the HR strut/spring combo, and i love it: height adjustable, and firmer/sportier ride, and a easily tolerable amount of road noise/vibration.

will put up pix soon. (after i put on my rally armors)

lowered my 2010 Wrx with ralliteks sport spring setup. 1.4f-1.2r. nice drop wish front was a tad lower but sits nicely now. Also put sways and all the links too. Ride is suprisingly nice. Not much harder then stock.

I used STi pinks on stock struts for my 08 OBS. Two years strong and no issues. RSB comes this spring.

Unrelated question, did you do the garage door lip on front and sides? Or is that a lip/skirt pkg. of some sort? I like the overall effect. Where did you pick up the WRX rear bumper?

Yeah that is the garage lip I think it actually looks like kinda real, im eventually gonna replace the front lip but i really like the way the sides look. THe wrx bumper i got because my roommate crashed my car and when we took it to the body shop i told them i would order my own bumper so i ordered the wrx one since it looks sooooo much better

I was wondering if 08-up BC coilovers would fit on a 08-up 2.5i. I thought everything just bolted up but i read some places that they didnt

I actually ended up doing raceland coilovers. They make the Vmaxx coilovers that are popular on VW's. Very good so far, but more than just coilovers have to be done....
