Default Painted my I/C...Epic Fail

I've got my flame suit on for this one. So over Thanksgiving break I decided to take a day to do some DIY mods, so I cleared my headlights and it turned out awesome, then I decided to paint "WRX" on my intercooler. I took it off the car and spent a good hour and a half picking out the little pieces of gravel and straightening out the fins. Then I taped off the outside of the intercooler and spent another hour meticulously taping off a perfect WRX logo, and then painted it with black engine paint. I was particularly proud of myself because it was looking great ...until I took all the masking tape off and realized where I had gone completely wrong. I'll let the picture explain...

I my girlfriend saw my face as I unwrapped it and immediately started cracking up. I was obviously pretty mad at myself but I couldn't help but bust up laughing, especially since I had told myself earlier in the day that I had to pay attention because it would be easy to make this mistake.

I wasn't going to post this out of embarrasment but it's just too good to keep to myself, so I hope you all get some enjoyment out of my stupidity!

Also any suggestions as to where to go from here would be helpful. Does anyone know if paint thinner will remove dried engine paint? Or should I just paint the rest of the inner section black and re-do WRX in silver?

LOL.

I think your easiest fix would be to do the whole thing in black, and if you still want the WRX paint that in with a different colour. Silver could look cool, it would kinda be an inverse of what you started out intending to do.

Well, double fail on using engine block paint not radiator paint and having it on backwards. The lettering looks good haha, Good luck getting it off. If you continue to spray the whole thing with engine block paint you will probably clog the fins and reduce how well your intercooler works.

That's not too too bad. Just paint the whole thing black and do the Wrx in white. That would look better IMO

hahah this made me laugh so hard.

It's an easy mistake to make i guess haha, I'll be sure if I ever do this I'll pay close attention to making sure I do it right side up.

I like the idea of painting the rest black and do WRX in Pink or red

keep it! the laughter you'll get every time you pop your hood will be worth it - and way easier than telling the story.

but if you do want to get rid of it, consider this a good opportunity to upgrade your intercooler?
