Default Manchester Subaru, Manchester NH

I just bought a new Sedona Red Sedan Automatic WRX from the Manchester Subaru dealership. The deal was done really quickly. They said MSRP, I showed them some info I had gathered, the salesman (Eric) talked to the manager, they said make an offer I said 23, 800 (150 over the invoice they had 23, 650 and 400 over the invoice edmunds showed 23400) and they said ok. Everything was great and highly recommended.

Default Just bought my baby....

Just wanted to give a little recomendation to Manchester as well. Kris in sales was very helpful in QUICKLY putting together my car and sale. He was very kind and even overnighted some paperwork to me when I needed it about a week ago......

Like the previous post said, go in there with an idea of what you wanna pay, and they will get you out the door for close to that. I paid just a tiny bit over invoice for my car and it had 23 miles on it.

PS: Car was delivered to me sparkling clean and with a full tank of premium gas......Sure made me happy

Default Actually.....no

Cliff,

Manchester actually ended up going lower than invoice(Same as your price) and bring my lease payments down pretty low. The kicker for my purchase was that it was easier to just do everything in New Hampshire(Registration, Insurance, etc.). Thanks again for your help and sorry we couldnt work out a sale....

Smile Manchester Subaru

Hi all-

Just wanted to add a little recounting of my experience at Manchester Subaru to this thread. I bought a used 98 Outback Sport with 69K from this dealer in mid-March. From the time of my initial contact I was struck by the low-key friendliness and helpfulness of the first sales person I exchanged email with (Kris Caron). No hype, no pushing, no BS - just a friendly, "hey, come on up and check this out if you're interested." I called the night before I went to the dealer to confirm the car was still there and wound up speaking with Todd Berkowitz, the dealership owner. Again, nice guy, friendly - absolutely no car salesman BS at all.

Arrived at the dealership the next morning to find Kris had been delayed by a family emergency. I wound up talking directly to Todd, the owner, who is, as far as I can tell, an anomoly in the car biz - he's a genuinely nice guy who understands and practices the basics of good customer service and management. I felt very comfortable working with him - and how can you feel uncomfortable when the man brings his adorable chocolate lab retriever to work with him! He talked about the car, and invited me to take it out for a spin. I did, after going over it inside and out in the parking lot, putting about 70 miles of interstate, side road, and dirt road mileage on it. THe car was exactly as described, and it was clear that it had been well taken care of. Upon my return Todd and I talked - a little about the car, but a lot about life and his management philosophies etc. I was again struck by his genuine good intentions and desire to build a repeat business of good and satisified customers. This man truly gets it!

Anyhow, to make a long story short, I did buy the car. Todd was asking a fair price (I knew as I did a lot of research beforehand) and gave me a fair trade value on my previous car. I am soooo happy with my new (to me, anyhow!) baby, and I was thrilled to get an unsolicited comment today from a mechanic who was putting in a new timing belt (which I knew needed to be done before I bought the car) that "someone had done good work on this car" and that its condition was excellent.

I feel that I was well taken care of at Manchester Subaru, and I whole-heartedly urge anyone who is contemplating buying a new or used Subie to check them out. I certainly will go there first when it's time for another Subaru.

Sorry this was a little long-winded but I think good experiences should be as well-documented as bad ones!

Manchester Subaru treated me right too.

I used AutoByTel specifically to avoid having to deal with salesmen, and wound up getting the runaround anyway from a guy at a different dealership. George Martin at Manchester had been emailing me politely while I was wasting my time with the other guy, and when the original deal fell apart I contacted him with the price I'd worked out at the other place for a 2004 STi. He beat it by a couple of hundred dollars- basically dealer invoice for the car and add-ons. So never having been to Manchester Subaru- hell, never having driven a Subaru!- I went up to pick up the car.

I got there and George Martin was off, so another guy takes me to the car and shows me all the toys, and not only is he really low-key and nice, but he knows the car inside and out and is obviously into the STi. We were yakking about lots of random things, winter tire choices, where to get decent floor mats, how not to poke holes in the back seat when you put in a kid's seat. So thinking this is pretty cool- a dealership with nice people who know their stuff- I introduce myself and ask him who he is and he says he's Todd, the owner of the dealership. You gotta love it. I wish I'd just gone there in the first place.

In talking to him he said they sell a good number of STi, some to long-distance customers coming from places like Ohio where the supply is thin and prices are high. Their volume lets them be competitive on price, and selling more cars is good for them because their allocation increases the more they sell. He also made it clear they bend over backwards to provide superior service- car pick-up, loaner cars, etc. to keep their customers.

I'm pretty suspicious about car dealerships in general, but I don't feel that way at all about Manchester Subaru. They were fair, they didn't pressure me at all about anything, and they earned my trust. I recommend them.

Thumbs up Manchester Subaru, NH

I had a great experience w/ Manchester Subaru. I worked w/ the internet sales manager to negotiate a price of $24,000 for my WRX. Then i went in, started talking w/ a dealer, Ray Walsh, he took me on a test drive, he mentioned how important break-in was (i already knew but ya know, makes him feel like hes teaching me). Then we went in to talk final numbers. I added Boost Gauge and Short Shifter, which they charged me $850 (install/parts+some profit...i know how dealerships work...parts department sells dealers the parts, dealers mark up price. but it wasnt too much higher, and they were nice). then i had a problem cause my parents were closing on there house later in the month and to get insurance, no tax, etc for NH we would have to wait, etc. they worked with me 100% and kept the car for a week and that allowed me to make sure my 20 day temp registration would cover past the closing on the new house.

i would definetly recommend this dealership to everyone!

Just bought an 06 STI from Manchester. Best new car buying experience ever.
Everything was pre-arrange through emails and phone. Price was incredible. Walked in and had my trade inspected, signed papers, and drove home.

Wish all car dealers were this easy, nice, and HONEST.

I know that there is quite a time gap here, but I also had a 100 percent plus experience with Manchester Subaru. I drove all the way from Maine to buy an '06 STI there. Corey Luba was handy, helpful, quick, and the price was by far the best. When I wanted the armrest extension a few days later, he got it out to me very quickly, and under list price. Prolly the best car buying experience I've ever had. Give them a call, you'll be happily surprized...

Post also thumbs up to Manchester Subaru

I was in the market, looking for a turbo-charged AWD vehicle so I don't have to deal with hydro-planing in the future. Did a little research on the Subaru WRX because I didnt like the look and feel of the Mitsubishi Lancer EVO. So when I was about to purchase a 2002 Subaru WRX w/ 44k for $15k, I got shafted by another customer who was looking at the car.

In the end, I found my current car, 2004 Subaru WRX STi. Saw the advertisement on autotrader.com and it was in Manchester Subaru. So why not just add $4k to a regular WRX and get a used STi @ 18.5k miles for $27k? I thought it was just a rip-off of some sort. So I got a ride from my friend to Manchester Subaru. First thing I did when I got there was to look for that specific car advertised. Sure as ****, that car looked like it was brand new. Next thing I was talking to both salespeople, Stephen Appelbe and Todd Berkowitz (even though his Chocolate Lab was chasing me trying to my leg, that was pretty funny). I was thinking they were like your everyday salesperson, anything to get you to buy this car. In actuality, they were polite and helpful in every aspect that made me look at a different view of salespeople.

So when I took it a for test drive, I just automatically fell in love with the car. My first subaru and my last sports car, yes it was that damn good in my opinion. I had to come back the next day to determine if I was able to financially support this car. When I called and told them I can get this car, they said and I quote: "So...where do you want to meet so you can get your car and do the paperwork there? Or I can go ahead and pick you up wherever you're at and give you a ride back to the dealership. We're here for you." When I heard that, I couldn't believe it. I never heard of a dealership doing that for just one person. Well, I felt guilty if they had it delivered to me just in case of the paperwork they might have needed from me, which I didn't. So in the end, 2 thumbs up for Manchester Subaru. I'm glad that this was my first Subaru experience without dissappointment.

Default Manchester Subaru, Manchester NH

A+ for Beth over at Manchester NH Subaru. I've had my cars serviced there for years but always bought at Nashua. Was looking for a SUV, thought the Tribeca was way out of reach. Walked in (Wed 5pm), asked Beth if they could beat the price of a loaded 07 Sante Fe and give me a good deal on my 2002 WRX wagon. She did, they didn't have the B9 (black 5 pass, limited) that I wanted in stock, but did a dealer trade, had it there the next morning (thurs am). We had it the next day (fri) because I wanted a remote start and the Bumper protection put on before delivery. Whole process took less than an hour including the 5 minute test drive my wife took before delivery.

I wanted to comment on this, I too had a pleasent experiance from the sales staff there and in my brief dealings with the parts dept too. My issues was with the service department. About a year ago I had a few issues and I know they have a new service manager who seems to care and go out of his way to make it right, but there still is a bad taste.
I am anal about my car, and twice I had it there for service and noticed scratches on parts of the interior that where real noticable. I am 99% sure it was done there, but I didn't want to say anything becuase I can't prove it. There was a couple other minor things that kind of add up. I might just be a whiney baby, but I thought I would share it.

I've always found their service department to be fine for routine stuff. You can get a Saturday appointment there without a month's notice like Nashua. Milford's service isn't even open Saturdays.

I wouldn't go to manchester subaru unless you want them to warp your rotors. Then to blame squeek noises on your aftermarket brakes pads (wagner thermo quiets) that are better than the stock ones. The squeek noise was not the brakes either. Then to also blame road noise on your improperly worn tires that are wearing just fine. Then to drain you rear diff fluid before asking if i serviced it and to fill it with dino oil after I put M1 in.

Also, just when you think you are buying a good used subaru from a subaru dealer...think again.

I have to give them another A+. Traded my 05 Baja in for an 08 Forester Sport the other night (Beth) (Taking Delivery in 2 hours). They went above and beyond again for me (07 B9 in Jan). The service Dept has been great this year also with Warrenty work on my Baja. I've never had a problem with the Service. I've been servicing my Subarus there since Oct 03 and they always take care of me, my wife and our cars. If Christine Smallcom is at the Service desk, you are All good!

Good dealer maintenance is an oxymoron. I have given up with dealerships. I haven't been to any car dealership's shop that did things right and were also knowledgeable. You're much better off finding a good mechanic somewhere else. Or if all else fails learn the skills yourself. You know what they say. If you want something done right do it yourself. That's just the way it is.

EDIT: BTW If any of you dealer mechanics out there want to refute that I have a way for you to prove yourself. Try to diagnose and fix my car. Good luck.

I agree, the only reason why i took the car back to manchester is due to the fact Singer denied me warranty on a wheel bearing saying the car was in a collision. My wife bought the car from manchester before doing a carfax and later learned it was in an accident. So manchester comes back and says the wheel bearings are fine.

So took it back to my friend who is shop foreman at his fathers shop is a wyotech grad and he found what was causing the noise. He also does not understand why both dealers will not replace the front passenger side wheel bearing that is noisey as hell. The car was hit on the driver side which you can see there is a newer suspension mount and control arm.

Default Clay Subaru Norwood DOWN, Manchester Subaru UP

I was recently shopping for the new Impreza.
Had a negative experience with sales dept at Clay Subaru in Norwood. They offered me 1500 for my trade in (97 impreza). I sold it two weeks later for 4K. Later on when I requested price quote over internet they never gave me one, but kept asking if they were helpful and informative When I sent them another letter with particular price from other dealership and asked them if they can match it, I got fuzzy reply about how close their numbers to the mentioned price and how they have their own 7y/100K warranty (some lame junk with huge deductible) and others don't. It's a shame they were like that, because they were the only dealership nearby who had car I wanted in stock. Too bad for them.
So I searched a little more and found another car in Manchester Subaru. Called them up and talked the deal over the phone within minutes including special financing from Subaru. It was a long drive to there but it was well worth it.

P.S. My experience with service dept at Clay Subaru was positive.

Default Manchester Subaru (Manchester NH)

Just wanted to let everyone on this thread who's from northern MA or Nh that I had a great experience with a Manchester Subaru. I went in there with a problem that only occurred from time to time. Usually dealers hate chasing ghost problems and they usually end up costing alot of time and money. I should know I work in one. Mike in the parts department is a very proffesional individual and he know just about anything. Great person to talk to and deal with. In the service department Christine would be the person to deal with. Also another very proffesional individual whos full of information and patience. I hope your experiences are as greatful as mine was.
