Default MRT 22b wing

I recently installed this wing and although it looks beautiful, it's fitment is a little less then desired.

The 22b wing is adjustable and has a 3rd brake light just so you know.

1. One hole did not line up from the other three

2. There are two more holes in the middle of the wing for securing it even more, but no template was included. Needless to say, I didn't bother making one and only did 4 of 6 screws

3. There is an insufficient amount of gasket tape included, at least another 6" would have been nice.

4. Make sure that the shop that paints this wing does excellent prep work... The wing does have some grooves/dents in it from the mold or shipping damage.

Overall it adds a nice look to the car and was a good value over other wings. I paid roughly $300 for mine unpainted.

One other thing, dont tighten the bolts too much, they will bust through! I have two dents to prove it on the top side of the wing.

I have the same wing - also found that it needed significant prep work before painting - body shop put over 3 hours into it to fix cracks in uprights.

I found no issues with the bolt line-up and I had sufficient foam tape for installation. I made up a template for center holes using newspapers. Would have been nice if MRT had included one though.

The original spoiler bolts are two different lengths. If you put the longer one in front you will crack the spoiler. Once I figured that out - They tightened up fine.

You got a very good price for the wing. I wonder if the shipping costs to HI are that much less than to East Coast to account for the difference (I paid $430 and have seen it for $500 elsewhere).

Sorry - no pics before. I knew that the finish needed work (lots of rough spots & pinholes) when I brought it to my body shop. They're a bunch of perfectionists (not a bad thing, really) - I hadn't noticed any cracks. You can't expect perfection - most fibreglass parts need some touch-up in the gelcoat. The good thing about fibreglass is that it is easily repairable - any competent body shop should be able to make it look good.

Haven't installed the wing yet due to the prep time. There were lots of pits on the leading edges and a crack too. Had to resand and add more dynaglass to get the imperfections. It also seemed that the material was thin in some areas. The center brake light assembly looks cheap also. Ahl give the another review when its done and hopefully installed.

The finish work on this wing is the worst I have ever seen. It had more scratches and pinholes than I thought possible. On the GC8, it looks great when finished. Just add prep time to the cost of the installed unit.
