Default A few thoughts for the sanity of the MWSOC

Was thinking of ways to cut down on the clutter in the MWSOC and wanted to run a few ideas past the rest of the natives to see what you guys think, or if there is something we could possibly add.

Idear #1 A master "Meets thread" It would be a stickied thread that would contain meet info that I would update weekly for the given areas. This would make it easier for newbies to attend the meets and not feel so much like an outsider at them.

Idear #1.5 (goes with idear #1) a master MWSOC "Teh thread" where the region can post "whatever" This would basically be what all of our current meet threads are, except it would be on a regional or statewide level, might be kind of neat to try out for a week or two and see how things go.

Idear #2 Spotted threads on a state by state basis. Spotted threads would be emptied every month.

Step 3 Profit!

Aside from those I am open to suggestions etc......

I like #3

#1 is not going to work, sorry. All our meat threads are basically off-topic, one post would be unrelated to the next and the threads would fall apart, leaving us with the only other option: start dumb off-topic threads

#2 If you create bigger non-area specific spotted threads it will get much harder to get spotted.

I propose our mod does a better job at keeping the trash threads out of MWSOC

This could have potential.

Let's discuss.

pros:
keeps the mess in one place

cons:
n00bs not used to being part of said mess would rarely wonder in there
n00bs might not notice a meat in their area

Ben, I think our forum is ok the way it is. We usually police our own pretty well. Bthe Midwest classifieds might a little more attention. You've been very fair so far. Close algonquins thread or however it's spelled. Sounds French and definitley suspect.

Brb, gotta **** on a Chicago thread. I'm looking at you Kamil.

Those are valid points but, while it would take time for everyone to get used to, it would be at the top of the page above the stickies so it shouldn't be that hard to overlook.

this!

and I'm with MC, leave it as is. We're good at discouraging n00bs from posting dumb threads. Some are resistant, like hoffmanestates, but even he got the hint

Is it ok to make a NASIOC wide suggestion? The first 50 posts should be required to be made on regional boards. That way we can have a chance to regulate the people before they go full retard where the whole planet can see.

I think I might have reported that earlier. Oops, I'm drunk.

MWSOC = Wander-ing;

Main Entry: wan·der
Pronunciation: \ˈwän-dər\
Function: verb
Inflected Form(s): wan·dered; wan·der·ing \-d(ə-)riŋ\
Etymology: Middle English wandren, from Old English wandrian; akin to Middle High German wandern to wander, Old English windan to wind, twist
Date: before 12th century

intransitive verb 1 a : to move about without a fixed course, aim, or goal b : to go idly about : ramble <wandering around the house>
2 : to follow a winding course : meander
3 a : to go astray (as from a course) : stray <wandered away from the group> b : to go astray morally : err c : to lose normal mental contact : stray in thought <his mind wandered>transitive verb : to roam over <wandered the halls>

— wander noun

— wan·der·er \-dər-ər\ noun
synonyms wander, roam, ramble, rove, traipse, meander mean to go about from place to place usually without a plan or definite purpose. wander implies an absence of or an indifference to a fixed course <fond of wandering about the square just watching the people>. roam suggests wandering about freely and often far afield <liked to roam through the woods>. ramble stresses carelessness and indifference to one's course or objective <the speaker rambled on without ever coming to the point>. rove suggests vigorous and sometimes purposeful roaming <armed brigands roved over the countryside>. traipse implies a course that is erratic but may sometimes be purposeful <traipsed all over town looking for the right dress>. meander implies a winding or intricate course suggestive of aimless or listless wandering <the river meanders for miles through rich farmland>.

Let's just write a program that insta-bans anyone that posts a thread whining about DS1 here instead of the vendor review section.

Honestly, no to all of the above... Please leave it as is. A lot of the meets in our area require a head count. How's that going to happen in a catch-all thread on all of the meets of the Midwest? We'd be worse off IMHO...

Did I mention leaving it as is?
