Angry What happened here after a nitrous run?

So Im coming home no one around so I flick the switch hit it in 3rd gear only for about 5 seconds. Then I drive down the road everything is fine, I get to a stop light and I hear this hissing sound from inside the engine bay. So I pull over and I pop the hood and its loud(the hissing sound), I look at my intake and its covered the whole line from the nozzle to the managment unit, covered in frost. SO i run turn off the car, and close the bottle about 2 minutes later the hissing stopped. Car runs great and no CEL, nothing.
What I think happened is my selenoid (sp) was stuck a little bit open so it was letting the nitrous flow through. Any ideas why this happened? I gotta check tomorrow morning. I think I was real lucky tonight, I'll let you know what happens. It gotta be it I checked my bottle connections and the main line fro the bottle to the unit and it had no frost on it at all only the line to the nozzle was covered in frost, the seleniod had to be stuck open a little bit.

sometimes the very cold nitrous can freze the solenoid in the open position. you're just lucky it didn;t freeze it wide open. what kit are you running? The only solenoids I ever use anymore are Nitrous Express.

I got a ZEX kit #82011. I guess after thinking about it I would get a NX kit. I knew this would happen to me all these other guys running zex 65 shot 75 shot there ok I use a 55 shot and got a big scare. Are you running the NX kit that the Honda’s use? Oh yeah it was really cold tonight record-breaking cold here in Chicago maybe that had to do with it? You think I would be ok to still use the kit for the summer I have sprayed 5 other times before this and it was fine, it ran great? Man this is kinda depressing.

You should be OK but I would think about getting another nitrous solenoid.

Yes I use a NX kit for "other sport compact" (that's what the kit is called). NX solenoids carry a lifetime warranty and I have installed many NX kits without incident. I'm just finishing an install on a C5 that is a major 4 day PITA because of all the damn wiring associated with the F.R.E.D. nitrous computer.

I'm not sure if they will or not. I would call NX instead of Zex to find out. Good luck

chances are that you had a small hunk of crap stick the solenoid ipen. i recomend a inline fiilter close to the solenoid.
ALLWAYS crack the line at the end and let a little bit flush out the lines..
believe me i know what happens to a stuck solenoid on a three stage 800" BBC motor at the strip looks like...
and its not pretty!

No it is not a pretty sight at all. Fortunetly I caught mine before I cranked it up. Heard it and could see the fumes coming from the hood scoop. Damn soleniods are always screwing up on mine. If it's not the purge it's the damn rubber swelling in the solenoid itself. I got a 350 shot plate on my 532" bbc powered dragster. And my teammate's car has a 2 stage frogger on her 540" bbc. But it IS fun to push that button, good god it's fun.

do you guys feel that the selenoid is still safe to use, Tom I will do that open the line and Im goin to take apart the purple box and check the selenoids out, thank you I think it should be ok. I did check them out after the frost cleared up, and they were clicking on and off just fine.

I'v never had a problem like that with mine but like the previous post, install a filter! It sounds like you set it up right as i know people who have not programed the unit correctly and the solenoid stayed open once turned on reguardless of throttle position. Check it!
