Default OT Eye Docs: How long are eyeglass prescriptions good for?

I got my eyes checked out 12/19/2008, and never got the glasses. Now I want to get them, can I go ahead and get the glasses with the prescription I have from last year or should I just go again?

Yes, and get the most expensive lenses they have. Definitely.

I think you're going to have to go again.

<---- 20/20 baby. Just had them checked yesterday.

My printout from my eye doc says the prescription is good for 2 years.

That said, I go once a year and it's been changing steadily since I was 5. My 2-year-old-lenses aren't as clear as the lenses I just got, so I would probably go again just to be current.

Depends on what is wrong with your eyes and how old you are.

My Doc says what ails me doesn't usually get any worse after your late 20's, I have astigmatism, I think.

Started wearing glasses at 20, Doctor says each time I come in for a correction on my glasses the new prescription is closer and closer to the last one.

Try to get the glasses on that prescription, if you get them and you can't see well, get a new prescription.

1 year. Generally. But if it's been close, I'd just recheck. no need getting an old one that might not still be accurate.

24 hours. After that, only Jack Bauer can give you a new prescription.

It depends. My eyes haven't changed much in years but I know somebody that needs a new script every 6 months.

Man, I wish I was -.25 and -.50. I think my left eye is -9.5 and my right is -7.5, with nasty astigmatism. My eye doctor said I'm essentially legally blind without glasses.

Werd. Annual checks are recommended, keeping in mind that the older you get, the less significant the changes will be in a year (mine used to get worse annually, then levelled out, then started to get slightly better)

Still, nothing's worse then spending big bucks on glasses with an outdated perscription, git 'er dun.

More like full sphere!

(I had pretty nasty astigmatism in my right eye. It's going away, and thus my right eye is getting much better)
