Nope I've never driven a modded 1.8t. But you've never driven a VR6 either. So that's kind of a stale point. Comparing a modded 1.8t to a stock VR6 is pretty moot as well. They both have awesome potential and it all depends on how much money you're willing to spend. What's the point of having a .357 magnum when you can't shoot straight? You should have been able to pull 15 seconds quarters, stock. 300hp in a VR6 or 1.8t would cost about equal to mod them both.

Weren't you telling Lee and I earlier that you didn't really need an LSD? If it's impossible to drive by slipping or dumping the clutch in any RPM, don't you think that'd be your next step? Have you considered the possibility of longer gears? How about slicks?

You dump the clutch on a VR6 and you'll spin all the way to third. It's NOTHING like a 2.0. You're comparing it against a car that's at least 4 seconds slower. Might as well compare my WRX to a McLaren F1.

What RPM are you revving up to when you slip the clutch?

R-RATED - The vw's and WRX's are made for different purposes. From 70 to 140 the Vw will walk away. It's all about gearing. Don't forget that 2.0 you used to sport. The wannabe GLX, GT model.

Stock for stock a VR6 will eat a 1.8T everytime. I have raced 1.8Ts meny times when I was stock and I pulled on them a lot. The only thing going fo the 1.8T is the chip, the engine does a huge jump in tourqe and HP. But, that is all. once you do that you have nothing else to real get power out of it. Even an bigger turbo will give little gains.

The VR6 has a lot of tourqe and Hp for a car its size and weight. All I need to do (and I hope to do next summer) is supercharge the VR6 and I'll eat 1.8T's. It will give the VR6 250 HP and 233 tourqe. It puts power to the ground better then the 1.8T. I have driven all types of the VW motor and the 1.8T is awesome. The VR6 is just has more you can do to it.

Z-Engineering supercharger system for the VW VR6 $3999
Info:
- Power increased from 173 hp to 255 hp
- Torque increased from 170 lbs/ft to 233 lbs/ft
- CARB approval will be sought
- Includes new GIAC chip and updated tensioner
- Stage 2 for +25hp available for OBD2

The VR6 will always be the look down apon engine with 1.8T owners, but thats ok untill next summer

The 1.8t may have more power, but it doesn't change the fact that the VR6 is quicker through the 1/4, stock for stock. I mean the Matrix has 180hp, and it's a slug.

Oh yeah, my WRX has more power. Whooptie freakin' doo.

I wasnt really comparing a 2.0 to the Vr6, I had the idea that made sence in my head, but couldnt really put it down in type, lol. Sorry about that. What I was trying to get at, was just becuase it is a VW doesnt mean that they all drive the same. Anyways, if you really want to compare power. Lets see I have spent about $1500.00 in Power Adders in my car. What would you do to a Vr6 with $1500.00? And what kind of power would you see out of it?

And it is not impossible to pull a good 60' without a LSD, I can and will do it, just need to practice more. And yeh I was probably revving to high (About 3,000 on someone advice), but you know what I am just going to try and find out what works for me, I will even try Launching in second. Or just driving off the line.

I never did try it stock, I had it for about a month and then chipped it. And it being stock you can more or less just dump the clutch.

3000 rpms? Ouch, I don't even go that high on a VR6.

I haven't had the money to go for the power mods.........the big power mods cost money like i seid in the other post. But, I only spent $15,000 for car, it was only 3 years old.

We'll see next summer......i hope to be in the low 13's or high 12's

But what would you do for a Klondike Bar?

Seriously, what would a Vr6 see with $1500 in it?

I dont think a VW 1.8T or Vr6 will walk away from a Lightly Modded WRX. Who knows, we will just have to see.

Well at the meet, going to china king. Bill was driving winslows car and I was following. When we got on it at 60 he pulled untill i shifted to 3rd. I started to pull a little until we came up on some other cars. I wanted him to try at 65 but we got to the turn off at international. He never did leave me behind like they did off the line at 36th.

But, I would really like to try this, kevin and I are trying to see what would be the best way to film it. If you have one person doing the video, who's car will he be in. Thats added weight.

You should do it with the modded VR6 and your car with a stock WRX from a stop and a 60 roll. I think from a stop the WRX will have the jump on you both but from the 60 you guys will have the WRX. Then it's up to the VR6 and the 1.8t.

Yeh that would be cool. Before we do this I want to make sure my car is running in tip top shape and no boost leaks.

Winslow you have a Laptop Right? Do you think one of these days I could bring my Vag-Com Tool and Software over and do some tests? I would need you in the car with me running the laptop tho. If so just let me know when you have time.

I also have a laptop. I'm free most afternoons if you need some help.

I also want to make sure mine is running in tip top shape. I would like to look at the history of my ECU, the light came on and I would like to know what it was. I can look to see If i have a senor going or a future problem .
