Me no touchie!

I was a bit 'cross' earlier as well because I spent the night in the ER last night for severe abdominal pain. Had to sit there for 9 hours being poked with needles, prodded, stuffed with barium, cat scanned, etc, etc with no sleep from 1am to 10, no sleep.

Lee knows me. I'm serious about my stuff and don't do anything half-assed. I just can't afford anything! As for the length of my posts I just like to get my point across. Being that nobody knows anything about the motor and implies that its weak puts me in a really defensive state o' mind, even if I don't drive one as of now.

No money + no sleep + ER guinea pig + UPS = touchie code!

Times with common mods: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=354396

And also take notice who started the thread. I wasn't kidding when I said it was always a 1.8t owner wanting to measure.

I'm on the lancer forums also and from the looks of it yes the US model will have the same tunabilty has the over seas model.

Mitsu doesn't want to be bested by Subaru, its been a rivaly for more then 12 years now. Mitsu seems to always come out on top, until now. But, I think the US model will be some thing to look forward to.

Oh ya, i have always seen it as a friendy Feud, but some of the guys on Vortex thing that there 1.8T is gods gift to engines. I love engines because of the tunabilty. You take this moms car and make a real fast street car out of it. its a lot of fun

ecu in rex reads the extra flow of air in intake and adds more fuel...that's why car runs rich...and that's what my a/f gauge says too! and i don't think my car is the king of the streets because there are alot of other cars faster then mine in town! just no vw's!

it's gonna be toned down just like the rex was...they're gonna put a side mount intercooler and probably some cats so the evo won't have that 270-280 hp like overseas to begin with...

So.......I drop in to see what the guys are talking about in my home state and start reading this thread. Had to go back to the top to make sure I was on the right page.

You VW guys trying to take over the world or something?

Where do you guys go to race? I still have some knowledge of the area (even though I moved away 11 years ago, I still visit family sometimes), but I don't rmember any tracks that let you run.

There are only two VW's owners here. But, there are a few former owners also.

There is the Alaska Racway Park in Palmer. Its a 1/4 mile track.

What do you think would be harder to get caught doing, a quick sprint to 60 that lasts under 6 seconds, or a high speed blast that leaves you open to being tagged the whole time you are tyring for that top speed! It does not take a fast car to go fast, hell I can jump in just about any car and drive 100 miles an hour. But I understand that people like to do different things, and whatever you do that you enjoy...have fun. Just do not bitch about it when you get pulled over for doing 100mph, and have to give up your car.

Another great thing about the WRX is, that when you do accelerate hard, it is pretty low key, because you do not have tires spinning and squealing to draw attention to you.

I have to agree with MaxxBoost on this topic, I think the Evo will be watered down when we receive it here in the US. But I think it will be another fun car to mod, and I cannot wait until someone in the group gets one.

But these are just the opinions of someone who is starting to think like an old man.....so just disregard my ramblings.

I can go 100mph in a Kia too. I have a co-worker that goes about 90 mph down the highway everytime I get beside him but as soon as I get beside him at the light he backs down. Oh well, he thinks his 6 cylinder rustang is the sheeeit.

There is a huge aftermaket for the Lancer in Europe right now. It is the hottest car to get. Some of the aftermarket shops are just waiting for the US market to open up for the car. Just a boost controller will put the Lancer in 330bhp. Its nuts what the guys over seas can do to that car with little mods.
The WRX was the same way as with most cars that come to the US. Don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed when it get's here. It all starts in Japan and most products take their sweet ass time to get here.

Just like almost every turbo car made, the EVO will be really easy to get alot of power out of it. I mean everyone knows just adding a exhaust on a FI'd car sees a HUGE improvement then adding a exhaust to a N/A car.

If you're caught either way it's a huge ticket. I imagine they'd give you a harder time if it was an organized group like *cough* last week. It's hard to say. Both would be big fines. Illegal is illegal.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm just trying to say that the vw has longer legs. If it makes you guys feel better we won't do it. Obviously, some people like Maxx Boost are offended at the fact that it's possible a dub will walk him. I'm seeing it in good fun and something that'd be interesting to see, guess I don't have enough excitement in my life. Perhaps if we keep dirt and bugs off are cars, we won't have to worry, eh? *hint* j/k

Regardless if it's detuned or not, Mitsubishi won't release a slower car.

Plenty of cars will smoke a WRX, and it's ok. As long as it's not a Vw, right?

I imagine some of you are annoyed about my pushing the dub all over the place, but don't forget, I drive a WRX too. I love both cars and enjoy each of their strengths. I defend the WRX just as much on Vortex as much as I defend the VR6 here. I guess I'm just partial to stirring up bee's nests.

The WRX is not the all mighty! OK, now its on the table so let me give my .02 cents. Sure there are lots of cars out there that can beat a WRX, but I guarantee you stock for stock out of the showroom the percentage of cars out on the same road the percentage is very low. The WRX is fast on accelaration but on a roll it seems very average. It might be because of the gearing. In Germany the higher end cars there need to be geared higher because they cruise at higher speeds for longer periods of time. VW or WRX they might have the same power but its all in the gear ratios I think at the higher end of the speedometer.
