Default PRI show Instead of SEMA?

I am thinking of switching focus. This years SEMA show was pretty sucky, Josh from Importimageracing.com just got back from the PRI show (Performance Racing Industry) In Orlando Florida. I decided to look into it. It looks to be more "race" focused, not "show" focused.

Maybe I will not attent the SEMA show this next year and switch to Florida in December

What do you think? Has anyone ever been?

SEMA was just not so good this year. I am waiting to hear back from Josh on how he liked it. Besides I have a lambo in Florida The show just seems more race oriented. I would rather look at innovations in the racing world instead of fancy stereo equiptment.

PRI has a lot of NASCAR stuff, but it's a great show.

Even when I went to sema a few years ago I wasnt that impressed. I never understood why everyone got a hard on for it. I just wanted to go, so that I could make bad decisions and feel ok about it.

Amen to that, I've never really understood the appeal of SEMA and the 20" wheels on everything and heavy stereo equipment in "race" cars. I guess that's why I've never been.

SEMA is fun, I like all the car whores, and the occasional race car. There is just something about a women with hardly any clothing that gets me going.... I don't know what it is

ya, broke. It costs me about $1500.00 to hit SEMA every year. That's a few car parts. If I doubled up and went to both I am guessing I would be in the 4k range. I don't have that kind of cash. Unless I stopped buying things for my car.

If you go to PRI, be sure to hit up some of the free seminars they put on. Unlike the SEMA seminars, they are very informative. Sema seminars teach you how to try marketing things you will never make to people that will never buy them. PRI seminars teach you how to utilize data acquisition systems, and tune suspension, and tune engines, and formulate race fuels. Also if you have too much money on hand, the SAE also has seminars that you pay for that happen in the couple days leading up to PRI that cover things like engine design, aerodynamics, and chassis setup.

I took the chassis tuning and setup seminar from SAE. I also went to seminars put on by Bosch, Rocket fuels, and a bunch of others. Weather of course was great both times I went. My only comlaints about Florida is that entertainment there (including food) seemed way more expensive than it is here. And there was HHR's and PT cruisers EVERYWHERE since that was the majority of what all the rental car companies used then.

Thanks for the info. I would love to hit a suspension tuning seminar or an aorodynamics seminar. I will seriously look into going. The good news is I all ready have 2 cars in florida to drive, so I wouldn't be renting a PT cruiser

The first year I went I was unaware of the seminars until after I got there and since I wasn't there for the first day of the show I missed a few I would have liked to hit. The next year though I was able to plan for them and it was great. Oh yeah, and ignore the no camera policy. It is not enforced. Did you know SEMA's official policy is no cameras unless you have a media pass?

The first year we went to SEMA I really pushed for a media pass and it didn't work out. I also dressed in slacks because they have a strick dress policy as well. After teh first day I realized none of their rules really were inforced.

PRI is a very different show compared to SEMA, Working in the industry for over 8 years now, I have been to both shows many times. I would have to say, If your looking for hardcore manufacturers of product that is innovative and on the edge of technology, It would be easier to find this at PRI hands down. Its much less show and glam then SEMA, SEMA is always fun and we have been attending for the last 30 years but like I said I have much better luck creating new contacts and seeing the latest and greatest at PRI. PRI is also not an open show, you must be involved in the industry some how to attend, they check credentials so if you plan to just show up to PRI and walk in, unfortunetly its not going to go well for you. Also look into IMIS in Indy we will also be attending that this year and heard it is an up and coming hardcore motorsports only show. I did not attend last year (first year) so I have nothing to compare to.

When I attend sema I thought it was cool but found they hype over rated. Same **** I see on the interweb everyday. The only awesome part was that's it was in Vegas which allowed for drinking and bad decisions. Pri seems way more legit and entertaining. Not to mention bad ass water parks
