Default Gagues opinion for going turbo

ok, well time is comming to go from vacume to boost.
(specs: automatic 2002 2.5rs with rex hood)

since I am pretty much going to slap in and let it be. I am not trying to tune it. I am going with a modest setup for boost.
I ordered and installed the lowtek a-pillar
then added to the three holes...
EGT
TrannytTemp(I am an automatic)
Boost
--
Now I am thinking of buying a OEM WRX gague pod and buying a few more gagues and modding the pod to fit the gagues. I was wondering what you think would be the most important to monitor.

I was thinking(left to right),
Oil Pressure/Fuel Pressure/Air Fuel
I feel oil pressure is imporant so I know if I have a leak or somthing bad is happening, fuel pressure so I know the custom rails are getting the right amount of fuel and that the fuel is rising from the FPRRR when I hit boost. Then Air fuel so I know if I am running rich or not. I don't wanna go super lean...or rich for that matter. What do you guys think? What do you think I should get? opinion?

Well you could always get a dual oil pressure/temp gauge to make things easier. Also a consideration is a voltage gauge. If your going to use a S-AFC then you might not need to run the A/F guage. Otherwise it sounds like you're on track.

Ah, well from what I read S-AFC's don't work on the 2002 cars...but who knows. And I have the fuel and what not being controlled a little diffrently

you might want to consider an oil pressure guages, so you'll know if something oil related blew or leaked out. It'll save you from drying out.

I have Boost, and AF, I'm adding an Oil Pressure, and EGT.

I'm going to keep the A/F since running too rich will also cause high EGTs. Since I'll be able to see if high EGTs are from running rich, I'll know I need to LEAN out the mixture instead of making it richer.

Default Guage Opinion

Nick,

I think your in the right ball park, I've got a 2000 RS that I'm in the process of going to boost on and here is what I have:
Oil Pressure, Fuel Pressure, Boost, EGT and A/F. I felt that this set of guages gave me the best overall information on what the car is doing at any given time. The oil pressure is to make sure oil keeps flowing as this will help prevent the engine from siezing up, because when the idiot light comes on it's too late! The fuel pressure for the same reason to make sure enough fuel is getting to the engine under boost. Boost guage for obvious reasons and I went with the EGT and A/F to try and ensure the mixture of things going into the engine were correct coming out the back side.

On a side note I am developing a face plate for the RS, it is in final development, holds 2 1/8 inch guages and mounts to the factory guage pod, made of resin and is very light and strong. I should have pictures soon. I am also interested in developing a face plate for the factory guage pod on the 2002 + models. If you are interested in potentially being a tester I would like to talk to you. Drop me an email jim@mplssolutionsoft.com. (not really trying to sell you anything as I am not at that stage yet, just looking at development) Thanks and good luck with the guages.
