Default Going to Park City 26th-2nd...Anything to check out?

Hey Guys

I will be driving from SCIC to Park City for a snowboarding trip next week. Any local attractions to check out in PC or SLC? Any good places to eat?

Thanks in advance!

Since I live here, I will chime in on some budget minded local places that I frequent:

Mexican: El Chubasco - Local's favorite mexican.
Chinese: Sezchwan - They have a killer lunch special
Tex Mex: Cafe Rio - a Utah staple
Thai: Bankok Thai on Main - great pad thai with regular 2 for 1 coupons
Bar food: Wasatch Brew Pub at the top of main - I only like their Fish & Chips, which are excellent
American Fare: Red Rock @ Kimball Junction - Just about everything is good, great for trying to please picky eaters
Sandwich: Legers: Either their meatball sandwich or "The Kitchen Sink"

If you want to live large:

Prime steakhouse on Main: The best steak in town, hands down.
El Chimayo: Fantastic food that is creative enough to make you feel somewhat justified as you walk out the door.

If you are boarding at Park City Mountain Resort:
Davanzas - near the bottom of the town lift has some good food and you will feel like a local.
There is a cafe at the base of the new Silver Star lift which has great food. If you're going to get ripped off eating on the mountain, might as well go here. Plus, it is located right next to the Sundance Institute so you would have some interesting stuff to check out.

My favorite restaurants in Utah:
Bombay House - in Salt lake at the mouth of Parleys Canyon. Lights out Indian, can't say enough
Tarahumara - in Midway. Best authentic Mexican in Utah.

That's the list so far off the top of my head, I'm sure I am missing some.

I like the Bistro (412 main street)

They have a cool laid back atmosphere, not too rowdy or annoying, delicious food, Massive alcohol selection with excellent Bartenders, and the bar menu is half-off before 9pm.

I think the film festival is around the end of January. You could go ride the alpine coaster at park city mountain resort. And visit the factory outlet malls. And if you like to go out and have a drink you should hit up o shucks on main street. Also they have sleigh ride and dinner thing at pcmr as well. And prime steakhouse isn't as good since they changed owners but still better than Ruth Chris which is also in park city. And there is an old mining museum on main street. Plus the olympic park offers all sorts of fun stuff you can even go for a bobsled ride there.

If you're of the bar hopping variety one of the nice things I like about PC is main street, multiple bars and restaurants very close to each other.

+1 to scooby snax list on places to eat, grew up in park city and lost track of how many times I've gone to most of those places.

If you've never been to a mountainous area before(ut/co/ver/etc) you're in for a surprise of how many subarus are here, whenever I go other places I always think "wtf I've been here 5 hours and I've only seen 1 subaru"

This is in Ogden, and will be a good hour and a half from PC. I went with my gf to this for my birthday last year, and it was an absolute blast. It's pretty cheap too. I'd recommend it if you have a spare afternoon.

Isnt it like $25 for 2 minutes? That is what it was at least when it first opened.

Something like that. I think it might have been a little more last time I went, but it's pretty close. That a hell of a lot of fun in 2 minutes, I'll tell ya that.

Prime is better than Ruth? Ruth was amazing when I had it last... Not worth the cost, but definitely delish. I'll have to try Prime sometime, I'm always on the lookout for a good steak.

And in case the OP (or anyone else goes looking) it is just Chimayo, not El Chimayo.

sundance is jan 21-31 this year. i work at shadow ridge hotel, right at the base of pcmr. everyone covered pretty much everything already. there really isn't a whole lot of stuff to do besides skiing/shopping/eating/drinking. there are a lot of nice canyon roads out here, but winter time means a lot of them are closed off until spring, or sketchy anyways with salt/snow.

you should check out the olympic park while you are in town, one of only two in the united states. they have freestyle arial pool ramps that are cool to check out, not operational now obviously, but still badass. if you ever come back out during the summer you can do a 3-7 day camp up there and you set your progress to how much you do. by my 4th day i was hitting one of the large ramps (lip was 30 feet above the water?). other stuff to do up there is zip line/bobsled (yes in a real bobsled, you get to push it and everything, any spot except driver)/watch nordic jumping/museum-etc.
