Default Failed stealth defi HUD install

Not liking the way the Defi heads up display (HUD) sat on my dash like a sore thumb, I wanted it hidden. So I came up with this idea. I recess mounted the display unit underneath the gauge pod (I used silicon sealant). However it does not work as expected. The angle the unit is mounted causes slight dimming. Plus it's too far away from the windshield which also causes more dimming. The display is impossible to see during bright day light and dusk. So thought I'd at least share my idea to those who may have considered the same thing.

(pic taken through windshield, so that's what those specs are).

A close up. Looks really nice and hidden, pretty impressed with my dremel work too. Too bad I lost functionality.

try bringing it out a bit, so that its more surface mounted on the pod. It'll still look like part of the pod, and be slightly hidden behind it.

Also, try using the a tint square on that area.

I can't remember if there is a "ridge" between the upper and lower casing. If so you could possibly dremel the hole a bit larger and have it sit slightly elevated on that "ridge." This would bring it slightly closer improving fuctionality. If not, then I guess yer SOL buddy j/k. Nice work... maybe the tint film would help... who knows

Tried all that. It pretty much functions best 'as is' on the dash. Maybe if I put it in the actual dash itself closer to the window, but that'll be a hella lot harder to do.
