Would anybody be interested in having a DIY meet? I need to do diffs and trans in my car soon and I figured if anyone else needed to do any maintenance or something it would be a good reason to get together. Plus if anyone needed help doing something, they would have a small army there to help them.

Well if everyone is willing to wait, I would be down. I'm not quite to 30k anyways! And yes there will be enough. I ordered five gallons so there will actually be a few quarts left over.

Anyone have a clue about this, going on in my wagon...

Quote:
02 WRX with roughly 160k on it. I'm not 100% sure whether the clutch is original or replaced, and if it was replaced that it was OEM. I'm going to call the prior owner and find out the specifics later.

At any rate my wife discovered a new noise today on the way back from the gym. It seems that whenever she starts out in first (or letting the clutch back in in any gear as I found out...it's more faint in the higher gears though) as she lets the clutch pedal in and the clutch starts to make contact a momentary squeal (think fingernails on a chalkboard) is heard. Press the clutch pedal in, nothing. Put it in neutral, press the clutch in and back out, nothing. After the clutch is engaged and you're driving, no sound, no vibration, and the gears all seem to engage fine.

I'm not really sure what this is. My first thoughts are one of the bearings (throwout, pilot, etc.) but I'm not sure what the exact symptoms of those are. My second thought is something in the clutch's hydraulic system? Can our clutches in the '02s be adjusted or lose fluid? Could it be low on fluid?

I must admit this is one part of the car I'm just not up to snuff on. Any help would be appreciated. I could post a video if/when requested.

Thanks in advance.
Oh, and Clayton...if you see this, what's the history of the clutch in Ol' Blue?

I'm from Ellensburg and if you guys end up meeting up one of these weekends pm me ill make the drive over, I have been deprived of meeting talking to other subaru owners since moving to Ellensburg. haha
I don't work most weekends so I'm free for the most part. Im going to Portland to look at a corolla that is semi rally prepped so i will be busy this weekend though.
