Default RMIC - In need of some Christmas cheer, my dog was put to sleep...

My 8 month old Great Dane Chief, ate a pack of work gloves. After uncontrollable vomiting (and finding 3 gloves) I rushed him to the ER Vet around 10pm Christmas Eve. Xrays showed a blockage in his stomach/intestines.

For the low price of $3000 dollars they could remove it, but my pet insurance doesn't cover anything stomach related when it comes to Great Danes. After buying Christmas gifts for my family and friends, Christmas dinner, etc... well..... needless to say I wasn't prepared for this.

I asked about waiting so I could see how much my regular Vet would charge, but the ER was worried about Sepsis by the time my Vet re-opened from the holiday.

Miss him so bad already and feel unbelievably guilty. ( I never imagined he'd eat gloves )

Here are a few pics of Chief at 8 weeks old with our other Dane, and the last pic was snapped at the Vet before putting my poor little guy down.

Take care of your dogs, they love you unconditionally.

Sad to hear about Chief. How's the big guy dealing with him being gone?

Oh and here is some cheer for you.

Jones, our first Dane is doing ok. He goes out to the back yard to find Chief and you can tell he is disappointed when there is no one to play with.

I definitely won't be getting another one anytime soon though, Chief was such a cuddler he struck a soft spot with me. And when a Dane wants to cuddle he gets to cuddle!

Wow nice vest lol

That's very hard. I never understood how attached to a dog you get till we got Bowzer. He really is just like a kid to us. We put all our family on hold over the holiday to make sure he got attention/ played with etc.

Good luck with everything! If you do get another little guy let us know and share some pics!

So true, I don't technically have kids, but I could argue that I do.

Im really sorry to hear about that. I just lost my golden retriever, Tahoe, as well. He was my childhood dog and grew up with me. There isnt a single moment that i dont miss him. the important thing is you keep him close at heart.
