We want to get this header rolling first then look into the 08+ headers. We have two '11 impreza's on hand for testing for the 08+ header, but the focus is on the original design for now. We will look into this after we're in our new facility on April 1 and maybe we can have a pre-production design available for display at the Wicked Big Meet this June. Hopefully things will happen much faster than that in our new location, but I don't want to set any dates/times in stone yet.

Update for the '99 RS: The Megasquirt box in complete (a plug and play unit we're working on) and the car should be ready to fire this weekend. We're also using an Innovate LC-1 integrated into the ems to handle AFR duties. We're hoping to offer this ems in the future with OTS maps.

I found someone that is already selling custom headers/exhaust for ej22/25 and the 3.0, 3.3, 3.6 H6's. They will even go out mobile to make a custom set for someone! How many people will do that? They can also make you factory flanges to build your own header. They might even have a flange/collector kit or something. This is their link.

Is it supposed to sound nice or is it supposed to flow well? Anyone with some steel laying around and some time can construct a header...

Well sure, mandrel bent is better for flow than welded joints and sharp bends, but there is more to exhaust flow than smooth bends. Length and pressure drop mean everything. It is about getting the pipes to coincide with the gas pulses at the correct rpm range when they go into the collector portion or you're just going to be making the engine choke on it's own inlet and outlet gas.
Although its nice that he is doing custom work, I doubt he's doing anything better than a cheap eBay pipe. I guess it depends on how much his time is worth... I think he'll find that his cost will end up about the same as other small scale production operations. And I doubt he will ever be using a flow bench or pressure transducers to test his work |

Ok,
We're looking for dyno time now to run the car as the new EMS that we've been working on is pretty close to being done final tuned. Between now and April 15th we plan to: - April 1-14th Build an intake for the car (now that it's MAP based) and dyno it back to back as it sits with the header/midpipe/catback and stock intake Vs new intake. Both back to back sessions will offer data for fully tuned cars with complete exhaust mods and cars with exhaust mods and an intake - April 15th Race the car and provide video/photos - April 16th Remove header and begin building production units The car feels great now with proper AFR's and some real tuning. I'll update week to week and right now we're prepping two cars that are going for a tune early April, but after that we're back on the RS full bore! |

This^^^ is great news!!! I am looking to have a 83mm NA stroker motor built by Dom at Maxwell power and would love to have this header on my car!
Is there any pictures of the catback section yet? I know what the cat section looks like for the obx el header though. Also, could someone just get the header and high flow cat section? I already have a catback set up I think like a wrx midpipe and stromung axleback or a 2.25 vibrant axleback. |

But, what I am interested in is seeing the cat section that will be bolted to the uel header. Plus, hopefully I will have some money shortly to get this header once units start to be produced ![]() |

Unfortunately, I see no real way this can happen. The pricing they have talked about at this point is already pretty close to as low as they can do. I know they are really working on getting pricing down but i don't see it cutting in half.
Ryan and I have talked about this and to compete with the Borla replicas and ebay knockoffs is nearly impossible... but you pay for what you get. Moore Performance headers and exhaust are lifetime guaranteed and are made in the USA with very good materials, those reasons alone are why I went with them. |

Update. We raced the car two weeks ago and it was fantastic! We didn't have a dyno slot until this past week, so we tossed the car on the dyno and found the afr's to be erratic at WOT. Something occurred during the 12 runs (2 drivers) of autox that changed the tune. We are looking into it, but we think a wire has grounded for our map switching (which currently isn't on a switch) and it's running on an untuned map. Our tuner is looking into the situation now and we hope to have it back on the dyno this weekend (sat morn if possible).

I did forget to mention that I had more fun racing this 2.5rs than I do the turbo cars! And I loved beating Evo's, wrx and sti's on the same course with half the power!

The header in action...with Ryan Moore behind the wheel. This rs also features: - Full Moore Performance header-back exhaust - Auto-x prep, including wheel/tire selection, corner-balance and damper valving. - Working prototype of MooreSquirt: A plug and play ECU option (that actually works) for many n/a models, including maf and SD-based Impreza's, Legacy's and Foresters. No big production updates on the header at this time though, other than we're still dyno testing the header (and mid-pipe design) to perfect the product. |
