Default Changing fluids for winter, and i have some questions

Ok so I just recently got my Subie coincidentally also my first Subie. And I one of those is the coolant of course and I have seen on the subaru website and many places online say to use ONLY subaru coolant.
Now is this a myth? If not what brand of coolant would you all recommend?

They don't all say use the Subaru coolant for no reason. The cost difference is miniscule. Get the coolant additive while your there
