TXS UTEC with ignition-cut LC/FFS. And you will spit a shim out unless you have shimless buckets, in which case you'll probably float a valve and blow it up in a similar manner. You need built heads to do this "safely".

I think he means afterfire, not ignition-cut launch control.

Get a BOV, your car will afterfire all over the place, and be slower than it currently is.

I was indeed, ive read that if you retard the timing in the lower end scale you can acheive it as there is more fuel being not being burnt is this correct?

Switch the spark plugs wires on one side of the car (front to back). It will vibrate and shake at idle like a badass racecar, smell like raw fuel for extra effect, and pop and bang loudly.

(it will also run like crap, have no power, and not be good and break stuff.....it was an accident. Oops. )

I think the best way to descibe it is like Antilag, ie the sound a rally car makes when they let of the throttle

Get a recording of your favorite rally car with antilag, route an exterior speaker to the back of your car and turn it up.

It's a britsih thing best I can tell. They all rave about the R53 minis popping and gurgling, and complain that the R56 doesn't do it anymore. It's an aesthetic thing. Just like we have our whoosh, they have their burbling.

If you just want it on engine brake, a mal-adjusted BOV will do the trick. Or MAYBE you could adjust a compensation map so that it pulled alot of timing only under high vacuum.

It is a british thing yes, you guys are roasting him for something that is quite regularly mapped (by request) to Scoobs and Evo's in the UK.

OP - check the Lancer UK mapping forum or geekmapped.co.uk for tips/hints on how to set this up.

It really is a rally car fan thing, not just a British thing. I love the sound.

The SRT4 has the "pops and bangs" sound when you let off of the gas. I assume that's the same thing that you're looking for. I recall Mopar saying that they dialed in more of the exhaust pops on their stage 1 tune. If they can tune in more, I assume it's possible for you to too. I've heard these pops start after a different exhaust on some cars as well (my friends GTI for instance). It's tough to say if it's a tune thing or a hardware thing for Subarus.

I have that sound unfortunately. Mine comes from the cleaned out catalytic converter (it broke up and fell out, not on purpose) COMBINED with a BIG exhaust leak where the downpipe connects the the exhaust. This lets fresh air into the exaust and this ignites the leftover gas that normaly would burn off in the catalytic converter.
