Can someone post pictures or a diagram of where this valve is located? Just got the CEL code P1443 today like each of you have mentioned. Been having the gas pump click-off problem for a few months which makes me believe that I need to replace this "Vent Valve Part"

Thanks in advance.

Glad you bumped this, as my sister-in-law is getting the same code on her '98 Legacy Brighton. I know it's obviously not a FI car, but this code seems common and (I think) Subaru-specific, as it doesn't show up in most of the basic OBD-II diagrams I've seen.

I checked her hoses and none appeared to have popped off, but she has all the same symptoms. Anyone?

I ended up resetting the code and have yet to filler-up to see what happens. I'll probably contact Subaru and see if this is covered under warranty if the code comes back on.

I have one of those small Actron code readers, which allows you to reset codes, if they're able to clear. This one won't reset, so it must be a persistent condition, I'd guess.

Well that's the thing. If I can figure out where this Vent Valve Sensor part, I can check it to see if it's clogged, dirty or what'ever. I'm not sure where or even how to look on my 2008 Hatch. See doing some research. Going to have to whip out with the shop manual for this one.

I changed out my Vent Valve. The change was easy other than the rust issues.

But it did fix the CEL

If you lift up the rear of the car and look under the rear passenger section a little past the wheel well, you'll see the Vent Valve/Pressure Control. It'll be tough to get to if you have larger hands.

Here are instructions on removing/replacing it.

Part number for the 2008 42084FG020
Part cost $89 bucks through SGP.
$125 at your local dealer unless you can make a deal with them.

Hope this helps. I have yet to find the time to replace mine.

Since so many people have been having this problem and there doesn't seem to be much info about 2008 models going through all of this, I'll probably document the installation just for future reference.

Before you go and make a purchase... you might want to try cleaning out your charcoal box. I honestly thought our year cars didn't have one because I searched everywhere on the car and couldn't find it. Apparently they do and they are prone to getting clogged up with charcoal pieces and spider webs.

It's located under the trunk mat on the Passenger side. I have the Procedure info at home on my laptop. Will post it soon.

I found Dorman 911-650 as an OEM replacement for $41 US at amazon.com. Ordered one up this evening. Had the fill up problem and just got the CEL this evening.
