Default Headlights come on late and flicker

Within the last 2 weeks I've noticed that my headlights haven't been working as they should. When it's below about 20F outside, the low beams won't come on for a while so I will basically be driving with running lights at night. After a few miles or about 5 minutes, they will just come on by themselves; just as the car gets to operating temps. I try to turn them on and off but nothing happens until they decide to come on by themselves. When they finally do come on, they flicker a little bit for a minute then work fine. What could this be? The car is still under warranty so I'll probably take it in on Monday to have the dealership check it out.

Not really. The only things that I did were paint the plastic parts inside the headlights like this:

and a DRL delete so the driving lights only come on when I put the switch in the driving light position. Both of those mods were done a while ago and have not caused any problems yet. I think it's something cold weather related but I'm really not sure...

it sounds like a loose connection to me..(you might have already tried this..) try checking to see if you installed the bulbs properly after the "blacked out housing" project.. hopefully there will be someone else who can answer your problem better..

good luck~

I think that if they weren't installed correctly, I would have noticed within the last >1yr that the project has been done. Could it maybe be that the seal isn't perfect and some moisture is getting inside or would that not be able to cause this problem?
