I know a guy selling one. Its a rifle built by one of our old Sergeants who is now an AR-15 armorer for ATF. Its got a collapsable stock and a Daniel Defense quad rail that goes almost the full length of the 16 nch barrel. Has a standard front sight assembly and is A4 style flat top.

He has about 200 rounds through it. He is selling it for $1000, which is pretty fair considering that DD rails are several hundred bucks themselves.

For those that don't follow the various laws that are in the works,

Check out:
http://www.azleg.gov/DocumentsForBil..._Number=HB2307
Or read the .PDF
http://www.azleg.gov/legtext/49leg/2r/bills/hb2307h.pdf

In short, if passed this means you could own just about anything as long as its made in AZ (yes there are limitations, but Not many)

It should also be noted that other states like Montana, and New Hampshire already have a version like this on the books.

Am I reading it right that it was passed? I know the right to carry bill got shot down.

I'm almost positive they're referring to auto weapons, not shotguns.

You wouldn't be able to SBR an AK pistol unless that AK pistol was produced almost entirely in AZ. That means, barrel, gas system, receiver, etc. etc. must be produced out of raw material in AZ (if I'm reading it correctly)

News

Guys,

My understanding, which is well-known to be wrong at times, is that the bill means this-

-Make it in AZ? Its legal within AZ.
-Make it in AZ? Its legal to sell within AZ. (parts, ammo, whole damn weapon, etc...)
-Autos and things that go BOOM are a no-no... which sucks, I wanted to make some claymores...
-Anything else is fair game. That means SBR/SBS - Silencers, tri-pods, optics, the list goes on and on - ALL Legal! (if made in AZ.)

Either way - With the number of weapon manufacturers within AZ already, we will be golden. But for the crazies like me... I'm already wanting a CNC machine, lathe, etc...

Some would also say if you took a standard barrel and changed it, you 'made it.' Now I don't know if that will hold water; nice if it did. Guess time will tell.

Oh, Note this is a 'HB' which means House Bill. And Yes it passed. The Senate has its own version which is nearly the same and they are poised to pass. Also, our governor has expressed warm feelings towards this bill. SO it has a VERY good shot (pardon the pun) at passing.

Cheers!

I heard a little about this. But I have not found the specific laws that allow it.
Don't you still have to buy the tax stamp(s), Reg. with the ATF, etc.. ?

This bill would remove all that BS.

How would this bill remove the BS from the ATF? Thats federal law. State law doesnt trump Fed law.

If somehow it does do this. I would be very happy.

Again, I am no expert, but my basic understanding it is that its about State's rights vs Federal Law.

Some would say the ATF was started up when a few bad guys got some nice guns and took out good people. Then it turned to prevention and later enforcement of the tax stamp. (paying for your Class3, etc...)
The ATF gets away with this, nationally, because of the 'Inter-State Commerce' clause which allows the Fed to control what goes from state to state, or countryX to the USA.

If AZ passes this law, it will join Montana and New Hampshire which states the ATF (Fed) has no right or jurisdiction to limit, control, whine about, anything that was Made and resides within its state of creation.

So if I made a silencer here in AZ. Used it in AZ and never took it outside of state lines, the ATF would have no say. It would be protected by the Constitution AZ agreed to and signed when it joined the Union in (1912?).

The only thing I Am sure of is that I am no lawyer. You would probably need to be one to explain why this would stop the Feds. in their tracks.

But for those that are confused (rightfully) I just need to point out that this law is almost exactly like Montana's and they have been doing this for some time - Without ATF (or other Federal) interference.

Maybe. But could be like calis weed laws for medical marijuana. You can still get busted by the Feds in Cali even though Cali law says its legal. Who knows, Ill talk to some of the guys at work about it. They know more about class 3 than anyone I know.

Plz let us know what they think.
But as for Cali and its pot, I think we can all say its legal (now) because they can tax it! - So if the Fed can find a way to get in on that action, I bet they would back off Real Fast!

Its the Springfield Armory SAR 8 built in the HK licensed factory in Greece. All HK parts from a 91 or G3 fit and work in this rifle.Bought this back in the 80's before the whole assault rifle ban came into play.Which did not work, all it did was raise prices.

What are you talking about. The ban was a huge success. Name one drive by bayonetting that happened between 1994 and 2004?

Chase, decent price for the Colt. If I had not just bought all the car parts, I'd take that off your hands.

Yeah Im trying to sell it quick to fund my AR build. Its been a great rifle that is pretty darn accurate and has never malfunctioned on me. But its not in the configuration I want. Im looking at building either a 14.5 inch Bravo Company Machine with a permanent flash hider or a Lewis Machine and Tool rifle. Also considering a Colt 6920 and maybe even a POF piston gun.

I recently handled a couple POF 11.5 inch rifles that our SAU (swat) teams just bought. Easily one of the best made guns I have ever handled and they are local. Just kinda woried about going with a proprietary design for my fighting rifle.

LMT is deff. FTW. Saw a few on gun broker for around $950. But they are in a basic config. Just get some solid core rounds and go at it!
