I put "Zombie Killer" on my badge as the title, but it didn't make it. I'm just gonna redo it in photoshop and reprint it.

Question

So I checked out a nice little hole-in-the-wall gun shop today on university and Lindsay, conveniently located next to my favorite mexico food place, Los Favoritos. I was extremely close to throwing down $75 on a Rossi .357 mag to put on layaway... but I know next to nothing about the gun. I asked the owner, and he told me all he knew, but I wanted to see if anyone had any real world experience with Rossi .357's. It was a Rossi 731 (I think ), with a smooth cylinder, 6-shot. I searched high and low for info on this gun, but it seems to not exist!!

All I know about the gun is .357 mag, 4-inch "matte-stainless" (not sure what they call this finish, its the grey that Taurus does a lot) 6-shot. Smooth cylinder, not fluted. Adjustable rear sights, front sight was an orange hi-vis blade type. Price was under $300, so i'm a bit wary about it, because of Taurus's reputation.

Ring any bells??

I have a pair of 971s with integrated compensator. 4" barrel.

Bought them new probably 15 years ago.

They are hands-down the most accurate out-of-the box revolvers I've ever come across.

YMMV, of course, but if the action seems smooth (mine are very good, with crips trigger but a little on the heavy side SA and DA) and the barrel is clean you won't go wrong!

So its not a bad deal then? I heard rossi just makes a less expensive revolvers, but they are fairly good quality. I've only ever shot one, and it was a the snub nose 5 shot .38 special. I don't remember shooting it because I was like 12 haha and the only guns I gave a crap about were nerf guns

Older Rossi guns were known to be good quality. Newer ones have a hit or miss reputation.

Not sure of the year, but I'll surely find out before I throw any money down on it. Today my lady insisted we go give it a thorough second look after some rumors of gun laws coming down on AZ residents after the events in Tucson... She really twisted my arm on it

Speaking of that, anyone heard anything about new gun law rumors, or anything like that?

I saw something on CNN a few days back...

Something about starting up the gun ban again Or at the very least a ban on 'high-cap' mags. (Because if you have fewer rounds, surely the Tucson shooting wouldn't have happened. )

Sucks that one persons bad move will cause everyone and their kids to pay for it.

I got a nice one at Sportsmans Warehouse for around 450 and they have bigger ones as well. Costco has a nice safe for sale right now. Cabelas has a big selection.

Also, I want a full on 12g for maximum home defense blasting. Im looking at used 870's and 500's, but i came across the New England Firearms Pardner 12g. Same gun as the 870, just made in Chinaland and about $175, new. WTF, why do I not have one of these? The only thing that does not interchange is the barrels it seems, but some have made them work with modification. Everything else, including treads for the mag cap are the same. AWETHUM!!! There is one on backpage for $150, might have to check into them around tax return time (if the Obama puts out this year, last year i owed ).

Anyone have one?
