FYI PMC 223 has been shown to be the most underpowered 223 on the market. I saw a test where the 55 grn FMJ was averaging somewhere around 2600 FPS MV out of a 16 inch barrel.

thats retardedly low power... out of a 16in bbl that round should still be in excess of 2800fps... i would have to consult my bibles (reloading manuals) but a 55gr bullet in a .223 should be anywhere from 2800-3000 in memory serves... i MIGHT be of +/-100fps

Good to know, thanks for the heads up. That said, if it shoots true at shorter ranges, and doesn't cause problems, i think it will still make good plinker/target ammo. Any word on their X-Tac line?

I'd actually be intersted in comparing the bullet path of an underpowered low-grain ammo as compared with that of a properly powered heavy grain.

Update: Daniel Defense got the rifle Thursday around noon. After not hearing anything from them, I sent an email on Monday afternoon requesting an update. I've still yet to hear from them and am a bit frustrated. Am I 'that' customer or is this poor customer service?

That is pretty weak. I just bought 1000 rds. of PMC 5.56mm NATO 62 grs. Green Tip-LAP. Any word on these? It was pretty cheap from unammo.

their nato ammo should be a bit better, it is kept to a bit more of a standard and tolerance level... manufacturing tolerances are a HUGE deal when it comes to both guns and ammo, if you knew the various tolerances for things you would soil yourself

5.56 NATO rounds tend to be loaded a bit hotter than 223 spec loads. That round out of a 16 inch barrel should be around 3k FPS muzzle velocity.

They were just in town not to long ago. Great classes to take if you can get into them.

Larry Vickers does a lot of training classes here in the Valley. He is one of the best trainers in the world and his classes are not terribly expensive.

Just checked out his site...I'll definitely have to get in on something when he is on town. I wonder if a number of us could get together for a group rate.

I know have a nice Ruger #1 7mm Mag on lay away at Cabelas. So if any of you are in need of a deer/elk rifle I'm getting rid of my Remington 700 .270 topped with a new Nikon Monarch 3-9.

That's awesome. What grain bullet does it shoot and what's the muzzle velocity?

That should put a hole completely through anything in North America.

Much like the old 45-70. Big heavy bullets at moderate velocities tend to go through a lot of stuff.
