Oddly, I had not considered using the pistol as a stopgap as I wait for a stamp--great idea. Now...cailber. I definitely want a caliber that can use standard AR mags/complete lower. Other than the obvious 5.56, what would be my options?

Good looking gun.
Out of a standard mag you have 300Blk or 223. I think the 300 is a cool round but if I were buying a 10 inch or longer it would be a 223. If its under 10 inches, that is where the 300 shines. |

I've been looking at 300Blk for a while-I like that there are super and subsonic rounds. Is the 300 doing well with the sub-10" barrel more of a 'best of the worst' kind of thing, or is there something about it that actually make it do very well in really short barrels?

Large caliber for the size of the case makes it very efficient. 8 inch barrels as getting 2000 FPS with a 110-120 grn bullets.

A good 8 inch 300BLK I think finally makes the PDW a viable weapon system. The current P90s/MP7 type weapons lack range and terminal ballistics.

Depends on the useage. Mission drives the gear.
If you want a compact close quarters weapon like a PDW than the 8 inch would be preferred. If you wanted a hunting rifle than a longer barrel to increase velocity and range would be preferred. |

its a great round but not cheap to buy or reload. It can use standard mags but you must modify them so they feed correctly. 458 is awesome though. 350 grain kinda hurt to shoot but the 500 grain are smooth. there is 338 spectre too.My buddy has a 338 spectre SBR setup but it had some feeding issues. I dont recall if it was his load or something else. when reloading your OAL, and charge can drastically change how your firearm performs. |

6.8 SPC. That's what I'm getting.
Where would be the best place to look for a Surefire SOCOM762-MINI? |

I don't know of any Surefire dealers but if I had to guess I would look at Scottsdale Gun Club or Shooters Vault. Both of those stores carry high end gear. You are probably going to have to just purchase it online and have a shop do the transfer and paperwork.
