Default WTB: stock or aftermarket exhaust for 04-08 FXT

Our FXT has an aftermarket dp, but everything else is stock, and in rough shape. A low mileage stock replacement from the dp back (WRX, STi included) would be the easiest solution, but I'd also consider quiet aftermarket setups (or pieces).

Thanks,

Ben

IIRC, the STi exhaust wont fit without modification. Tro8 likely has his stock exhaust.

From what I've read, the length is fine, you just need to use longer hangers. Thanks guys--

I dont think that is correct. When we put the exhaust on Marc's forester, the downpipe fit perfectly but the WRX/STi DP back was much too short. It melted his bumper and the tip ended where the bumper started. We end up extending the rear section to make it fit properly.

Heres some pics after it was extended

Ill try to find a before pic.

EDIT found one, kind of crappy but you can see what im talking about

It sounds like the 04-05's are shorter than the 06-07 STi catbacks from this thread:

http://www.subaruforester.org/vbulle...exhaust-45897/

Sounds like 02-03 brake pads....

I'm positive that an STi CBE will fit the Forester, you just need the longer hangers.

That said, I have a stock FXT axleback in the garage, 60k miles, good condition.

It physically bolts on fine, but everyone Ive seen the tip stops before the end of the bumper, unless the hanger angles are modified or the pipe is lengthened. The overall length of the piping is pretty close, but I think the hanger angles make all the difference with how the muffler section meshes with the bumper cover.

Good luck in your search

the sti catback fit just fine all the years are the same i have had them on 3 diff. fxt's and there is no issues no melting bump or anything.you have to use 1" longer hangers in the rear and you loose the use of the 3rd rear hanger on the axleback but everything fits just fine and the tip of the axleback only sits maybe a 1/2" back from the stock postion which is better then some of the aftermarket fxt fitment exhaust which set 1"-2" past the bumpers end which i think looks weird.i will post a pic of my 06 fxt with the sti catback on it later to show you how it sits

Hmm, good to know that it isnt a problem at least with the OEM exhausts.
