According to VZW's appraiser program, they will give us a whopping $8 credit if you trade in a mint Storm ($2 for me since mine is deservedly damaged.)

I know I'm going to get a from skywaffle but I preordered the wi-fi Xoom from Amazon just now. Any hitchiness or lack of polish from Honeycomb is going to be something that has to be patched out of the OS...it's not the hardware's fault. I am confident that things will improve just as they did with original Android and subsequent patches. It's stock Honeycomb with an unlocked bootloader so if Motorola doesn't fix it, the dev community will.

Why do you think I'd e-roll my eyes? It's a nice tablet with a great OS. If you're Money McGoldpants and don't mind dropping $600 on one, it's a nice device.

Never mind, I thought you were one of the ones who were vocally saying it sucked. I must've confused you with someone else.

I said the price sucked, the screen isn't as nice as the iPad's, and there are some build quality niggles.

I love that they include everything the 3G XOOM has except the 3G modem on the WiFi version. You still get the compass and GPS.
If you already have a smartphone with a data connection getting the 3G version is pointless. Why pay twice for the same data?

For my $600 I think it sucks. The hardware is awesome its just not worth 600 right now imo

Just had to reboot the phone because it got stuck on this pushing data out but can't receive it loop. It was doing the same thing this morning when they couldn't get it activated... I will definitely be keeping an eye on that.

EDIT: Come to think of it that could be a VZW issue because my Droid had been dropping data/cell service lately too

Thunderbolt is good stuff. Makes my original Droid look like ancient technology. The screen on the Droid is like after using the Thunderbolt.

Yes, not necessarily in quality (same resolution, larger screen), but size. I feel like I have to squint at my Droid to read it

Does Android have 3G/4G tethering app if you root the phone? That would be nice to tether the phone's 4G capabilities on the Thunderbolt. Then I'd be able to get rid of my stupid 3Mbps/768kbs "high speed" internet that I'm paying $40.

I believe the phone comes with one.

The only problem you'll likely run into is download caps put in place by the service provider. Don't know if Verizon still has unlimited downloads.

I bought a tbolt today too. The store said they had no car mounts. Looks like i have to call around.

The only thing that is pissing me off is that i always had 3g where i am parked right now. Tonight it is 1x. I hope it isnt a tbolt issue and just a verizon hiccup.

I am posting from teh mobile hotspot, it works good. Battery seems about the same as my incredible which doesnt say much.

Toying with the idea of a nook color to run honeycomb or froyo on. Just not sure if I should wait... the price point is very attractive.

Ok I crashed after work. Just woke back up.

Battery life seems plenty acceptable so far, not great but not unacceptable either, I expect it will improve once I get the battery cycled a few times as well. And my Seido battery should be here soon.

I will be rooting ASAP, (SenseUI sucks) I think a permanent Root should be out by the weekend I would guess based off what I'm seeing on XDA and twitter. Speaking of which don't accept any OTA's if you want to root. Can't wait to load CM7 up on this thing.
The one thing I will say for SenseUI over Motoblur in the meantime, at least it's not as buggy.

Figured out how to do the HD video, here's a sample video.

Why are you still on 2.1?
T-Mobile released 2.2 well over a month ago? (via Kies)

Just got the Thunderbolt!! Phone is a beast. I'm new to Droid but loving the speed and quality of this phone. Time to waste my day playing with it.
