HOW the crap do you T9 spell-dial without the contacts being on top??!?

Oh yeah... vanilla don't T9

Sorry, but IMO not having T9 blows goats... When I was on AOSP I always used SpellDial because not having the split T9 screen pissed me off so bad. Coming from WinMo6 previously, I found it to be indispensable and not having it was one of the few things that pissed me off about switching to Android.

I download pretty much every free app of the day from Amazon and then uninstall the ones I don't use or want. That way if I ever need them, I still have them for free.

Quite handy.
Have you tried Google Gestures? Lets you draw an "S" (or whatever letter) on the screen, and lets you see contacts and apps that start with that letter. Pretty slick, and saves you from scrolling through all your contacts.

You can export the contacts on your phone into a .vcd file that saves on your SD card. Transfer the vcd file to your PC and then import it into your gmail account.

ouch.

Verizon speaks up, confirms usage-based data plans are coming July 7th
Quote:

The leaks about Verizon's usage-based plans have become so abundant that it's been nearly impossible to shake off with any amount of skepticism, but one key ingredient's been missing from the saga: official word from the carrier itself regarding the exact date and specific pricing. A mere two days before DataGate's rumored debut, Verizon's finally cleared its throat to make a statement confirming the inevitable. The unlimited smartphone data plan will predictably make a sad and sudden departure from the company's brochures -- lingering only for those grandfathered into it -- and a tiered structure will enter in its place.

There were no surprises on pricing: for smartphone data, plans start at $30 for 2GB, $50 for 5GB, and $80 for 10GB. New customers can add mobile hotspot service for an extra $20, and Big Red will throw in a couple additional gigabytes as well. Customers currently using the unlimited LTE mobile hotspot will be given the option to retain that service for another $30. We've yet to receive confirmation from our spokesperson, but will keep you updated as soon as we get word. Knowing is half the battle, though, so take action -- interested parties only have two days left.

So glad I'm grandfathered and running cm7. Free tethering ftw. Especially since the town I work in has 4g but where I live now I don't even get 3g inside.

You will probably end up with duplicates, but you can delete the ones off the phone entirely, and also do the find & merge in google contacts (from a computer choose Contacts when you're in gmail).

There's also a setting in contacts on your phone to have the default new contact be a google contact (as opposed to stored only on your phone)

What are peeps using for hotspot access? I'm using Mobile AP which is built into the ROM I think because I can't find it anywhere as an app except under my settings/wireless. I tried Wireless Tether for Root Users but it always gives me an error. I'd like to use WT so I can see up/down transfer amounts.

Agreed. I may move when next my contract comes up for renewal. Just not sure who else I can get. I had sprint before this and left because they modified their network and I had nothing in my house all of a sudden.

For me being able to assign a gesture to a person and even better a particular number for a particular person is much more efficient than getting a list. My contact list is relatively small and the number of people I call/text on a regular basis is even smaller. So Sign works really well for me.

Ty for this. I was having a ton of issues with my contacts after att synced my old iPhone 4 to my infuse in store. Gmail wasn't importing my phone contacts. And I was tired of it not syncing.

Tldr this solved my problems! Thanks.
