Default Your opinion on McCulloch H.I.D.

I wanted some opinions on the 9007 McCulloch H.I.D. conversion kit for the WRX. I wanted to know if over time you have noticed any negitives with the system? Also do you still have the DRL on? Does this kit really light up the road better (is it worth the money)?

Thanks

Brian

I also have heard it is a great kit, but sorry no personal exprience. But is it worth the extra $125 over SPW's HID PLUS 7000K kit. I am trying to decide between these two kits.

Actually no. I haven't been using them YET. I have a set here that I will be using in my STi projectors as soon as my car becomes drivable.

But, I had many other kits. I wasted my money on all kinds of kits with fake promises, ect.

After long research and talks, I decided on the McCulloch HID system. After I tried it out on two other cars, Nick and I were so fascinated with them that we now offer then through our online store.

They truely are the best. Subary uses thir systems as OEM for their OEM HID stuff. So do few other JDM car manufaturers. Also, they manufacture the ballasts and ignitors for HELLA which are also very good.

Up until about a year ago, McCulloch didn;t sell their product to public. Now they do, hense a reasonable price.

Trust me on this one. You will not regret. The kits are the highest quality. The fit is awesome and everything fits and works great.

Imprezer- Which kits have you had that you did not like? It would be nice to know what not to buy. What do you think about the 7000K HID PLUS kit w/ Hella ballasts?

thanks
Vinnie

A kit from www.hidkits.com -- Bad quality. Blew up 3 times. Bad fit.

K2 kit -- Bad quality. One ballast blew up. Bad fit.

Phillips -- Good quality. Bad fit.

McCulloch will have a 7000k kit shortly as well, I think. Feel free to contact them and just say you have been refered from i Club. They will answer all your question. Very nice guys.

At this point, McCulloch doesn't offer the OEM D2 style bulb for the HID STi headlights. I have a bulb style that will fit after 2 min with a file. Nothing major. They are bringing the D2 bulbs in shortly.

I will tell you tommorow which bulb I got.

dam according to their website... their bulbs only fit their ballast..

but on their website it says JDM subaru uses them... i gotta go home and check.

Ok from the previous HID kits.. the bulb has like 3 inches of wires and a harness. Assuming the JDM HID dont have that harness openly... Is there a way to just take the bulb out and replace the bulb?

Oh dam on their site they only sell 5000K... so there is no upgrade for me for now

If you're using HID's on the stock headlamps, you will lose your high beams. This is because the stock lamps use one bulb for high and low beams. The way to get around this is to get something like the Morettes units with a harness that will seperate the high and low bulbs and retain functionality. However, you will lose your DRL's as you must disconnect them in order for the HID's to work correctly.

The McCullochs are great. I haven't tried as many kits as alex has, but I was super impressed with the quality and craftsmanship with these things. They do the little things with the kit that make it much better than the competition. Mainly they have a short wire between the ignitor and the bulb, and a nice long wire between the ignitor and the ballast. This means you don't have to go nuts figuring out where to mount the ballast in your car.

And as far as looking the High Beams... unless you want to flash fry pedestrians... why on earth would you need highbeams with HIDs? If you had any idea how bright they are you would forget all about highbeams forever. The only downside I noticed with not having highbeams is not being able to flash people. But with lights this bright they get the idea with the lows.

And like Alex said, we do indeed sell these through the i-Club Store. We've been selling them for about a month now, but I was reluctant to post about them because I didn't want it to seem like we were pushing them on people.

There is a limited time offer right now for $50 off. When I spoke with John from McCulloch yesterday he said there was a limit of 10 per online store. So that means we have 9 left. So the next 9 orders get $50 off the cost of the kit. The coupon is printable from the store.

If you want pick your's up today.

I disagree with you because they only provide a 1 year warranty. HID 4 less provide you with a 5 year warranty!!

Correct me if im wrong, but these kits will work with the Morettes and you keep high beams but you lose Drl? Also if installing them on the Morettes do you need any modification when installing these (if anybody has done it)

ok, why are the bulbs BLUE? I've seen hid that has a nice color without having to color the bulb blue. I really doubt these HID lights can be as bright as others. Blue colored bulbs take too much light out. But maybe I'm just missing something here.

Currently they offer a 5500k kit. It was a 6000k setup, but that is such a different light, that the human eye can not see it as well at 5500k. 7000k is approaching ultra violet light, and is basicly unusable. I run them on my car, who needs high beams? I can supply anyone these lights for $500 shipped.

Thanks,
Kevin

I totally agree. on a TRUE HID system you dont need to color the bulbs. they are just trying to get the light to be more bluish. Also since the bulb is colored it will limit the light that goes through it just like the CHEAP BLUE BULBS (wanna be HID).

I had Autolites HID on my old car and I will get their for my WRX but i did get pulled over in my old car and the cop gave me a ticket for the blue bulbs for the high beams and he saw that the bulbs for the low were clear and didnt know the were illigal too. and here is a pic of them on my old car and I love the color.
