I printed the bar codes for Saturday, but I'm not sure they came out well enough to scan. I guess we'll see about that tomorrow.

Really fun event today!

I finished up with a 45.1 which I'm happy about. No clue what FTD was.

Here are some pics I took when I wasn't driving or riding along (thanks again for the rides WRX11!). I have more photos shared with the CDC Flickr Group.

They must have done a ninja-sweep late on Friday because it looked much better this morning. We didn't have to do any sweeping, but there was still a fair amount of dust being kicked around.

Was a really fun rally-x course the first during the first runs My car was covered inside and out in that dust. But it got better as the day went on. Can't wait to see the times once they are posted. The new bar code system seemed to work pretty well, hopefully it means faster time posting Oh and good work on the track design and running of the first event of the season!!

For someone who has never run with CDC, can you guys comment on the three facilities you'll be running at? (HG Stadium, PG Stadium, and Hylton HS). Basically, are they good sized lots so you get reasonably long, fast courses, or are they small lots with tight courses? Obviously Fedex is great for long, fast courses, and I ran up at Ripken Stadium a few years back and that was good as well. I've been to events where times were in the 30-40sec range, which to me is just starting to get so short that I wonder why I'm even bothering.

Thanks,
Pat Olsen

The smallest course we have is Harry Grove, the fastest times this last weekend were in the 44 second range. I would say the CDC courses usually range from 40-50 seconds for FTD's. Obviously there are no lots as big as FedEx around, not even half its size, but the courses are fun and you can get some good speed on them due to the courses being designed well. Oh also you get 6 runs for the day vs 4

But for clarity, 40-45 seconds at Harry Grove is usually with some looping-back-again. For Bowie it's 40-45 seconds with no looping and I have never been to Hylton.

Bowie is an "L" shaped lot, so depending on the course designer (and whether they use the lower section below the curbs) it "can" be a pretty fast course. At an autocross there a couple weekends ago FTD's were in the mid-40s (factory five cobras) and most times were in the low 50s, on a course where I got up to about 45-50mph in one section.

Really depends on the course designer, but there are alot of options at Bowie depending on whether they use the standard "center start" that allows 2 cars on course at a time.

Hylton looks pretty small, but I"ve never run there, only driven by once or twice, IIRC.

CDC designs good courses that maximize the available space and driving skills. Hope I'm able to run some events with them this year - I did 3-4 season of CDC on and off and always enjoyed their events...and the good/cheap food there is a major plus!

Surface-wise: Hylton is my favorite. Last year, the surface seemed like 1-2 year old asphalt. Very nice.

I think we do a pretty good job of making do w/ the lots we run on. Hey, Harry Grove used to be good enough to run the SCCA autocross schools on when I first got into autox.

I think Harry Grove was once upon a time where most of the SCCA events happened, before Fedex.

As of now the barcode system is simply for testing. Paper still determines the official results. hopefully soon we will actually use it for what it is intended.

Not sure if those are final, but they were posted on the CDC forum.

Looks like the index's got all screwed up some how. One 08 STI and a EVO had a weight index of .99 and mine had 1.01... I think they are all the same weight index though. Same with the power index's, they look off too... I guess we will have to wait for the official ones. But the raw times seem right. I was supposed to have a 1.01, but it shows up as a 1.032

The biggest thing that we noticed was a lot of people cut out the wrong bar code. Also as the day went on the dirt on the windshields was throwing the bar code reader for a loop sometimes.
