Question Any Ideas On A New (Old) Car?

Well now, gang any suggestions on what I
might buy with between $6,000 to $8,000?
I need something I can use everyday for
the next 4 years (or so) that's reliable,
and can race 1 time a month and not rank
90th out of 91 cars! Possibles are:

1). old Miata and add supercharger
2). cheap Honda and add supercharger
3). A2 series VW GTI and add...gas?
4). 240SX and add headroom, please!

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

hey whats up russ!!! well i think if $$$$ is a issue you should stay away from the turbo and supercargers they cost a bit more to maintain. a vw is nice in handling and racing when fixed up. a 240 z is a cool car. thats just my thoughts on that call me later for the parts ok

PEACE

Hey I didn't see the old AE86 corolla in there... (85-87 corolla gts) It's rear wheel drive, light, gots tons of support,(trd, etc, and comes in hatch or coupe...

Oh yeah, it's really good for hood riding...
JK

There's the old 89-92 turbo legacy and mitsu galant VR-4 too, though the reliability of those would be questionable...

Thumbs up

Yeah chillN, I got a place in my heart for
GTI's of the 16V variety, good handling, not
a dragstrip monster but decent torque! And
LOTS OF HEAD ROOM!

Shin, wouldn't it be cool to beat Kawasaki
in CSP with a car like his? BTW, if you
haven't seen him, Dean Kawasaki is the arch-
enemy of everybody in CSP! He's not that
much of a SubyEnemy now that you are all
in STS or GS or STR. But back when we were
all in CSP, he was THE target! He has that
'85 or '86 Corolla GTS hatch. There's a few
guys that I would say have become ONE with
their cars...he's one of them!

Anyways, I'd like to do Nissan, but their
cars are made for thin, reclining type
drivers!

Oh, well...

Hah! good one, no one would expect a geo metro, with all 55 horses and 3 cylinders to go blasting down the autox, but why not just run the course, i think you'd get better times?

I would get the 90-94 Eclipse/Talon/Laser in AWD Turbo. Can't beat. THE BEST bang for the buck!

Don't forget the '69-'72 Datsun 510! Great car. Lots of performance potential, bulletproof engine, AND it shares the rear differential w/ our beloved Subes!

You can get one really decked-out for under $4000.

I'd have to go with Imprezer on the Talon...or 2.5 with that Razor scooter...just be careful not to fall down and break your leg!

Thanks 'Prez & Craig! Alex, there actually
was a 90's TSI in the classified, I'll give
that one a look! Craig, the awesome 510 is
as hard to find here as snow in Waikiki!

Shin, I think I'm actually slower than a
Metro!

Cliff & 2.5, I think the razor scooter would
crush beneath my volumonous (?) girth!
But, the Festiva? With turbo? Hmmmmm...
