I think this would be a great idea! An un-biased pick of what Utah deems as the Top 10 Best Subaru's.

All of those that want to participate Post up.

Edit: this is not a "penile" comparo thread. Again, it is JUST FOR FUN!!!

Edit #2: How this is going to work. Post if you want to be in the competition. Post Model/Year, Mods and photo's of said car. I will edit this main post for easy reference of those willing to participate. Pts will be based on 1/4 mile time/speed, Lap battle and overall car appearance/taste. We will work out a point system later, but for the time being...

Most pts for lap battle
second for 1/4 mile
3rd for cosmetic and overall taste.

Not current standings, just those committed below.

"Cosmetic" and "overall taste" are inherently subjective, meaning there's no such thing as an unbiased metric in that category.

James, are you thinking most points for the 3 lap battles, a specified day at RMR and a specified "car show" date?

That's how I was thinking it should go.

I was thinking 1 lap battle day as those that may be interested would be more than likely to participate if it is only one time.

I am also thinking a test and tune day for the drag races. That way we get a guaranteed 5 passes and we can take our best one.

The "show" will be subjective to those rating it. We can't rate our own cars and we need to be honest with those cars that are running against ours.

That sounds good. We should hold the show at a CnC or a TT where we will get a good turn out of people. The problem is people like brody will have to drive it. We should plan dates, mid to late summer then.

the cost will be about 150 for the lap battle and 10 for the RMR. RMR midnight drags are that much, but I am not sure if the test and tune is as well.

FYI Test and tune is $20. Midnights are $10, but you'll have a disadvantage as you won't get 5 runs.

Sounds good to me. For those actually racing, I was thinking of a point system. Obviously if you win you get the most points and if you suck you still get some pts. For example;

1. 15 pts
2. 12
3. 10
4. 8
5. 7
6. 6
7. 5
8. 4
9. 3
10. 2

Both the Drag and Miller have a possible 15 points. For show it will be based off of Cleanliness, Wow factor, etc... have 3 or so classes worth 5 pts in each class that people can circle for each car.

Total pts possible is 45 assuming you win both racing and get 5's all around on the "show." we tally the points and declare the top scoobs in Utah.

CnC or TT would be cool would be good for the "show". Depending on when the Mark miller park-n-cruise is, we might be able to do the final points and show then!?

If nobody signs up, then I guess we have our top 3

Seriously though, it is this kind of stuff that brings the car community together. Allows us to get to know each other and ultimately we will want to help each other out. Plus, we get to check out some cool cars in the process.

What about the rareness(sp?) of the car, the uniquenss of the parts (everyone has a invidia dp, but who has a JIC DE-Type II full Ti cat back).
Its not the size of your parts list, but its also about how unique the parts are.
So what do i win?

To bad the STi is gone, would have cleaned house on the MMP alone

You have a legacy now. You can still compete. Just because you would be fast at MMP doesn't mean you would win it all. I know several cars that were faster than yours at RMR.

The "car show" will have a uniqueness to it, not just money spent.

You win nothing but the respect of your fellow Utahn-RMIC members.

My suggestion would be to make each test's value be more inline with all the attributes necessary to achieve good results. Ideally, a number of tests should be run to show all aspects of the car's build and performance. These would include 0-60 mph acceleration, 60-0 braking, 0-100-0 acceleration/braking, slalom, 1/4 mile, dyno results, MMP lap time and overall appearance.

Unfortunately, accurately performing all of these tests will be almost impossible. So instead, the tests that are readily available should be graded accordingly.

Time Attack(Acceleration, Handling and Braking) = 60%
Drag Race(Acceleration) = 20%
Car Show(Visual Aesthetics and Popularity Contest) = 20%

My .02

And for time Attack, is that for DOT's or Race tires. As some ppl only run in the DOT class, how would that work out if they are lets say 4th overall but 1st in class?
Drag racing, is that on slicks or DOT's and also with pure 91 or with 91+meth/corn/C16?
