Default Red L7 grille for BD/BG/BK - excellent condition

SOLD to coldlu!!!

I bought this off Ebay probably a year ago, but it doesn't fit my bumper style correctly. It really is a shame, because this grille is in superb condition - looks damn near brand new. The fake chrome isn't flaking or peeling and is nice and smooth, the plastic clips are all intact, etc etc.

I honestly don't remember what I paid for it, but these tend to go for ~$150 shipped (or even more) on ebay from what I can see, so I'm pretty sure that's about what I paid for it. I remember being pretty pissed when it didn't fit my bumper right, which leads me to believe I spent real money on it. I'll take $100 + actual shipping cost from 98383.

Here's how it fits on a 2.5GT/Outback bumper with the deep center dip:

That 3/4-1" gap is why I don't like it on my car. It wouldn't take much work to fill that gap, and on a darker colored car you might not even need to fill the gap with anything. On my silver car, though, it just stands out too much and looks unfinished.

I'm in the same boat, but my 98 is the deep green so you really have to look straight on and hard to see the gap. It sucks. been looking for our gen one for a while and haven't been able to find one. good luck on your sale and search

Sorry for the slow reply, didn't see your question somehow. Looks like just over $12 via UPS Ground to south FL. That's based on a 31x10x6" package that weighs 4#.

Yea it wont fit any usdm front bumper no matter what there will be a gap. I luckly have a black legacy and with my jdm grill you barley notice it. I still say with the gap it looks better then the stock one. You should keep it.

Not correct. This isn't the short grille, this is the mid grille. Unless you can provide pics to prove otherwise, the only JDM cars that had the tall grille like the USDM cars are the Lancaster/Outback models, and those models didn't get the L7 grille.

Patrick

On another for sale thread, Smezmerz is attempting to sell a similar (although grey) grill.
being the polite gentleman that he his he measured the grills height as being 111.125 millimeters. I suspect your grill is the same height as his. Would you be willing to measure your grill, just so we can have a definitive number on how tall these "mid" grills are ?

Thank you.

Since he didn't provide any reference of what exactly he was measuring, his measurement isn't particularly useful. Here's a shot with the tape measure held flat against the face of the grille. It's ~4-3/8" to the top of the grille measured this way.

The best measurement to compare the "mid" L7 grille and the "tall" USDM grille is to put the grille on a flat surface and then hold it up so the lower legs (that extend off the back to clip onto the car) are horizontal. Then measure up from the flat surface to the top of the grille. The mid grille is ~5", the tall grille is ~5-3/4".

The tall grille is clearly taller. I couldn't use that same bottle to prop the mid grille in a level position (which is why I don't have a picture of the mid grille like that - I held it in the level position and measured it with the other hand, so I was out of hands. )

Your 4 3/8" measurement converts to 111.3 mm which is very close to Smezmerz's 111.125 mm measurement. My assumption is that you both measured the same section.

While I could easily be wrong here, I am going to assume that your grill and his grill are both the same dimensions.

Here was my request to Smezmerz :
