Talking Another Milestone Today!

Update - October 15th - 295,000 Miles this evening!!

Update - June 6th up to 290,000 Miles this morning!

Funny thing, Facebook told me that exactly 3 years today I posted the 250k photo! The car is 3 days short of her 14th birthday! And 36k miles on my BRZ in just under 3 years means I'm driving way too much! 76k miles in the last 3 years!

285,000 Miles of Subaru Fun!

Big Thanks and wouldn't be possible without AZP Installs over the last 14 Years!

Stock Original Engine and Transmission. I had a Utec Stage 2 set up for about 100k miles but then put everything basically back to stock maybe 4 years ago after I got tired of the loud exhaust and the poor gas mileage. The only mods still on the car are Eibach Pro Kit lowering springs (on my second set as I broke a spring after 250k miles), front and rear sway bars and I don't think the Perrin uppipe was every swapped back for stock. No major repairs, just oil changes and regular maintenance and replacing all the normal wear and tear items - brakes, clutch, timing belt etc. I guess the biggest / most expensive part that had to be replaced was the turbo, but I've replaced it twice with another used stock turbo, so it wasn't very expensive. I'm pretty sure I have the common cracked head gasket issue known to subaru owners, but at this mileage I'm not bothered to fix it and just keep on driving the car. The engine still pulls and drives very strong and even after almost 14 years the car is still much faster than my BRZ.

Did you apply any POR15 (or any anti rust) on the chassis? How's it holding up?

No anti-rust applied to the chassis... However about a couple years, SOA replaced my whole subframe for free. There was a recall I believe for the lower control arms and when I took it in for that the dealer was telling me that I need the subframe to be replaced as it was not safe to drive in the condition it was in. It was very expensive and the car was already around 250k miles so I told them that I wasn't going to do it and would just keep driving the car until it fell apart. They said ok and couldn't force me to replace the subframe but gave me the car back saying they don't feel it was really safe for me to drive. A few days later the dealer called me and told me that SOA was going to replace the subframe for me as they don't want me driving around in an unsafe car. Props to SOA on that one!

Nice, glad to see she is still running. One of our first customers when we did remote installs for people in their driveways. We installed the springs in someones driveway on this car and helped maintain it ever since.

Congrats, you obviously take care of your cars very well.

Did you do anything out of the ordinary to extend this car's life over time?

It definitely is! AZP has taken care of this car for the last 14 years from before they even had a shop and were doing installs on people's driveways!

WOW!! This is so amazing!! I was just talking to the wife about this today with both of our subarus ('14 outback, '13 WRX), I really think we plan on driving them until they both just fall apart! After seeing this thread, I'm glad to see it will be a LONG time!!

Cheers, OP!!!
