After awhile it does break in and get louder and after a couple more months it got even louder but it still sounds good and can be quiet when i want it to be. I havent got any crap about it from local police since i got it a year ago. I'm happy with it still ill try to get better pics and vids but overall for 220 bucks this is a great catback I like the way it sounds still and no real rust issues after 2 winters in Ct.

Forgot to make an update, but here it is on my '05 WRX getting some numbers on e85.
Exhaust has held up extremely well, isn't obnoxious and provides a good free-flowing exhaust.

Anyone else have slight fitment issues? I put mine on yesterday and the muffler part is slightly slanted, the pipe is about a couple millimeters from the rear diff and hanger on the midpipe is super stretched. The connection between my midpipe and downpipe is def off so I'm gonna try reinstalling it.

And there seems to be a strange harmonic pitch when driving, doesn't matter if I gas it or not just seems to happen when the car is in motion. Don't know what that's all about

*UPDATE*: This exhaust rules. My issue was with the outrigger plate. Don't jack the car up on this plate. Made me think it was the exhaust.

I had to use XL hangers to get it all to fit, although I believe my midpipe hanger is stock

Will that cure the clearance between the diff housing and exhaust pipe on a '04 STi?

Just installed mine this morning. Bolted up just fine to my Helix catless downpipe. The midpipe hanger is stretched a bit but still worked for me. I am using all stock hangers now to see if I like the "tucked" look. I did order two XL hangers if I change my mind. Has anyone on all stock hangers run into any melting issues? I've read people talking about it possibly happening but nothing so far of it actually happening. The clearance between the tip and the bumper is very minimal (my previous catback was also minimal, but not this much, and I had no melting issues for 4+ years).

Thanks again, JNA.

I bought 2 to clear the muffler from the bumper more, but the exhaust hanger by the axle seems to fit better with the XL hanger instead. Could be different for others. I had to use smallers bolts for the downpipe connection.(saving the 2 I got with my order for my future downpipe purchase) The sound is exactly what i was going for. A nice semi-quiet deep rumble at idle and cruising speeds. Loud when you want it to be . Overall you can't go wrong with the price. Very satisfied and thanks again!
I've read several replies on this thread stating they had to use smaller bolt sizes than the ones that come with the exhaust. What exact size bolts did you have to use with stock down pipe? I'd like to be prepared before I get my car on stands.

Also, if you need to replace the donut gasket, will a flat flange gasket work better or should I go with a new OEM donut gasket? Thanks for any answers.

I managed to get mine one with the stock bolts and spring using the OEM donut gasket, no apparent leaks and the bolts haven't let go yet and I've had mine almost a year now?

How loud is this exhaust? Like on a scale from 1-10 (1 being silent ), Its really hard to gauge it just from youtube videos.

I'm looking for something on the quieter side but obviously louder than my near-silent stock exhaust.... just don't want something too loud that's going to bother me on the highway / draw attention from cops.

thanks,
Mike

When you first install the catback, it is super quiet. Once the packing breaks in, it gets pretty loud imo. Probably 6.5 out of ten. Not the loudest, but does make some noise.

Hate to "Resurrect" but the almighty SEARCH led me here. I know JNA has stated that it looks very similar, but has anyone dug up so definitive info that these are the same/really close? For some reason the youtube clips of the surewin one sound quieter.

Ok, it's about time I put up my review. I've had this catback on my car for 2 weeks now and the sound is great. As everyone has mentioned, it has a nice rumble, but nothing too obnoxious. I've already got a ton of compliments on it and people are shocked when I tell them the price. My friend put it on for me and he works on cars everyday; he was really impressed by the quality and said I should have no problems with it. We went ahead and painted the rear section flat black because I wanted the stealth look. For the install, it was a bit of a pain because we were rushed and my friend tends to get lazy, but the fit is solid and doesn't hang too low, like some are concerned. If you are connecting this to the stock DP, go ahead and use a donut gasket and the provided gasket, or else you'll have a leak. Overall, I'm really happy with this exhaust and I'm glad I didn't go out and spend $500-700 just on a catback.

I'll chime in as well. Many many compliments. Started off just a bit quieter than it is now, but it isn't loud. It just developed a deeper sound. Was a huge difference compared to what was on the car when I picked it up. Not only that, but the shipping was just unbelievable. I ordered on a Friday and it was at my house Saturday morning, if I remember correctly. Granted, I live in the same state, but I was blown away. Also, JNA customer service is exactly what a customer should expect.

I know I have no comparison, seeing I haven't purchased one of the exorbitantly priced exhausts, but I can't see why anyone would spend that much money when this satisfies all of the requirements of the average enthusiast Subaru owner.
