Default 2006 STI Audio Build.. Help with choosing parts please!

Hey All,

I have a best friend who works at best buy and he said he would buy me anything I wanted/needed with his massive discount (a tad bit over cost). And yes, I know he can get in trouble, but his boss is cool with it. I was wondering how this setup so far looks:
I want to make sure I do this right, and something I will have zero problems with in the future. The car is a 2006 STI, and it currently has the stock sound system w/o the "sub" under the passenger seat.

Any thoughts/opinions would be greatly appreciated,

TJ

Of course,

My budget is around $1k or so, but since I will be getting a lot of the products at a bit above cost through best buy, i should be just fine with that budget I hope. If not, i can by the parts and then have them professionally installed later on. And I prefer rap, hip-hop, r&b, rock... A lot of areas haha.

OK well do you want to do it once and be done? Do you know were you want to mount the amp and or sub. Don't forget you will need a speaker spacer for the front doors and an amp install kit and a harness for the headunit install.

Des the head unit you picked out have RCA outputs be sure it des it will make adding an amp easer. It would be better still if it had 6 front rear and sub. At least front and rear.

From best buys line up its hard to go wrong with Alpine.

for your doors
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Alpine+-...&skuId=8699438

for the sub again Alpine is a well rounded chose do you want a 10" or a 12" you need to answer that but what your after. look at the R type subs. If you want a best buy box get a sealed box it more forgiving and will take up less space. Go to alpines web page and find out what size (volume) they recommend and what is close to that. passably add some silicon to the inside seams of the box to be sure its sealed well.

For amps. do you want want one then get a 4 ch and bridge the rear for the sub.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Alpine+-...&skuId=8699349

the alpine subs are able to take more then that so you could add a amp just for the sub.

Run the speakers in the rear door from the head unit or not at all, ether way just leave them stock.

^^ solid recommendation there....

take the $$ for speakers in all (4) doors & put all of it in the front doors.

I am a die-hard Alpine guy, but I gotta say be careful, in recent years Alpine has put many "desireable" features in out-board (aka more $$) modules. So if you want Sirius Sat Radio, as an example you need the $80 module AND the $125 sirius tuner + the subscription. The iPod cable may or not be built in, HD radio, another module, Blue Tooth? yep you guessed it , another module...

Again I am pro-Alpine, but I am not the regular consumer, I have no need for blue tooth or iPod.. so it doesn't affect my decision. It might yours. Kenwood & JVC own the "feature packed/gimmick laden" market. & to be honest for 95% of the world they will sound awesome.

I will expand the questions:

* budget? (you said $1k @ near cost)
* what kind(s) of music?
* what sources? (ipod? cd? sat radio? hd radio?)
* what features? (blue tooth? navigation? remote?)
* stealth/hidden or do you care if its obvious you have a system?
* who's doing the install?
* alarm budget?

I do like that system above a lot.. But to answer your questions:

-Budget: About $1100 w/ products at cost. If i have to pay for everything now and wait a month or so to install it properly at a local car audio place, so be it. I want it done right with the right equipment so I will not have to worry about it later on.
-Music: Rap, Hip-Hop, Rock, Alternative, Country, Reggae, R&B.. a tad bit of everything, just no screamo.
-Sources: The only sources i really care about are the iPod, that is what I will be using 99% of the time.
-Features: Blue tooth preferred, but not a big deal if it does not have it. GPS is also preferred, although I do already have one. I was thinking of selling it on eBay and just combining the gps into the HU, less wires and much cleaner then too. Sat. radio and HD radio i do not even want.
-I would prefer hidden install, but the car is either in a garage (during the summer), or parked inside a fenced in parking lot that is about 15 feet from my window of my apartment...
-Install place: Probably a shop by me called Shades in Waco, Texas. They did my tint job on my car and they did a wonderful job, and I have a few friends who have had audio equipment installed and loved them.

I am thinking this for my headunit:
-http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Kenwood+-+In-Dash+Satellite+Radio/Apple%26%23174%3B+iPod%26%23174%3B-Ready/DVD+Player/GPS+Receiver/9230922.p?skuId=9230922&productCategoryId=abcat030 2013&id=1218063832278&AID=10597222&PID=3202266&URL =http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bestbuy.com%2Fsite%2FKenwood%2B-%2BIn-Dash%2BSatellite%2BRadio%2FApple%2526%2523174%253B %2BiPod%2526%2523174%253B-Ready%2FDVD%2BPlayer%2FGPS%2BReceiver%2F9230922.p% 3FskuId%3D9230922%26productCategoryId%3Dabcat03020 13%26id%3D1218063832278&ref=39&loc=01
-Two 10inch Subs, Alpine Type R's?
-Box (not sure from where..)
-Amp
-2 Speakers (I might wait on this though until I have installed everything else, to make sure I get the good right speakers for the set up). I would really like to do 4 speakers though... I like everything balanced haha.

Thank you all for the help,

TJ

And in terms of an alarm, I will wait on this. Plus, my insurance agent is a close family friend, so if I ever did have any problems, I know he would gladly let me claim it all on insurance.
