Default Zerosports Air intake pipe

Was in Japan and picked this up. Pretty easy install, and you don't need a new ecu to put it in like you would with a full intake. Zero sports does offer a full intake too, but they said that my engine would definately blow without a tuned ecu cause it takes in so much air. I believe them after seeing the filter. It was as big as my head! Anyway, it replaces the rubber hose between the air box and the engine with a nice steel pipe. The people at super autobacs in Japan told me that I would be surprised at the difference it makes, so I bought it, figured what the hay. Put it in, and wow. The throtle response is quite a bit better, and it really feels like the car is pulling harder. It is supposed to smooth the air flow, and I guess it does its job. I suggest this part to anyone who can get their hands on it, and if you do have a tuned ecu go for the full thing. I know Zero sports stuff costs a fortune, but it sure does work well.

Default Noise

Do you feel increase in intake noise. Not too obtrusive?

Sorry I am in the process of moving right now, and my digital camera is being shipped. You can get a pic of the Gc8 version of this pipe if you go to

So is it just a tube that replaces the accordian piece that goes between the airbox and turbo inlet pipe? I replaced the turbo inlet pipe but it doesn't get rid of the accordian piece at all... Do you have a part # by any chance? I'd be willing to pay the price to get one probably.

Hmm, no luck finding a part number. I went to the Zero sports Hp, and since I got rid of the box... Even in Japan it is called the air intake pipe though. You should be able to get it from a vendor here. Or contact Zero sports at www.zerosports.co.jp
They will do international I believe

here you go, it is basicly a better contour tube than the stock plastic tube, so it flows more efficient

Devonvh, how much did you pay for?

Yeah just a metal replacement tube for the accordian plastic one. If you have an aftermarket intake then it's pretty much useless, but I plan on keeping the stock airbox. The site has it at like 9800yen, which is about $80. The standard markup I've seen on zerosports parts in the US is about 40%, so it might be $130-150 in the US.

yeah it was about 80, since I bought it in Japan. I'm working on getting the header and up pipe from them too, since theirs had the highest dyno tests in impreza magazine.

If you look at the guys other mods he is using an Apexi intake. The MAF is off to the left. The zerosports piece is just an intermediate piece between the airbox/intake and the turbo inlet pipe.

I just got one of these from Bozz Peformance for $110, I ordered it back in January. I have to agree that the difference is noticeable. I am also running a K&N panel filter and an MRT turbo back exhaust. The extra noise is not obtrusive at all in the cabin when you install this piece. If anything the extra noise just makes you fell like you are quicker. It seems like lag is reduced as well.

Wink Hope we can get it cheaper than this

http://www.fastwrx.com/zersporturin.html

But at least they have it! I'll check on Bozz Perf.

Jim

PS - Good pic dwx.

PSS - Just checked Bozz's web site, they don't list any ZeroSports stuff. Guess I'll call tomorrow.

That looks nice. I was going to fabricate something to replace that piece, but this looks much better than I could do. I have the APS CAI, which leaves the rubber section intact.

Talking This works for me

Just ordered one from Jerry @ Bozz Performance. He said it'll take about a month to get to me, but @ $103.00, and a little to ship to me via UPS ground, I can wait!

Give Jerry a call. Seems like a nice enough guy.

Jim
