Default B4 RS30 : I want this !!

http://www.apexjapan.com/news/b4_30/b4_rs30.html

Hope it'll come here...If not, a Legacy EJ20 turbo or Legacy box 6 will also be good.

Too good to be true?

Thumbs up Yeah but...

Here is the quote, "The rumoured 5-speed auto did not surface in this lineup addition but Subaru have confirmed that a 5-speed automatic is under development." Yes but WHEN?!
If I knew that car was coming here in 2004 (14 months time) I would wait for it myself! Why does Subaru not tell us what's in store for the US?

If it does come, it'll be in 2 years time at the earliest. Just my hunch. I don't have any other information than you guys do.

Heather they don't tell us because if they did you would not have just bought your '02 GT Legacy!!! They want to buy now...and then buy again later when you HAVE to get the new and improved model. Otherwise they would be stuck with alot of product on thier sales floor.

That is why dealers are referred to as SATAN on most boards. LOL.

Just read an article about how the new Mustang Cobras are the best version ever released, i.e, power and handling greatly improved. The cost? $33-35K. Great. However, there are a bunch of disgruntled owners of the previous model who had to pay over $50K for the privilege of owning a Mustang Cobra.

Maybe the RSK will come in at less than the WRX... hehe that would be great!

They have to do some major redesigning to make it left hand drive. More than likely what we'll see is the H6 in an auto stick.

We have the H-6 3.0 Sedan here, but only available in OBS (Outback Sedan) and auto only.

It's really really nice though.

I would beg to differ about the total redesigning to make it left hand drive. I was under the understanding that the only "conflict" currently between the lefty's and righty's (engine swapping wise), was the EJ20TT configuration, because one Turbo is sitting to low or something but the RS3.0 could make it over here, because does it not use the same H6 we have here?

I could see it coming in a year, as a 2004 GT 3.0 model. IMHO (yep, still probably auto though, us americans and our autos)

I am sorry here, but I do not see why everyone is excited about the B4 RS30. Is it not really equivalent to an H6 GT? The B4 line is basically equivalent to the Legacy line here. The difference being their base model has a 2.0 liter our base has a 2.5.

US Japan
Base Legacy L (2.5) B4S (2.0)
Upgrade1 Legacy GT (2.5) --------------
Upgrade2 Outback H6 B4 RS30 (3.0)
Upgrade3 B4 RSK/GT-B (2.0TT)

So the only real difference between here and there that I can see is the 3.0 liter H6 is offered in a model with a sporty suspension. Does it offer more power than it does here, I did not calculate the horsepower. Now if they build something with 250hp wether it is twin turbo, or N/A 6. I will be at the dealer with deposit in hand.

gimme Legacy TPH wagon!

Lightbulb

Didn't I see a past thread mentioning a 4-speed tiptronic Legacy for next year? Even if they only offer the possible 3.0GT with an auto, does anyone else see it being a tiptronic? That makes it a little more acceptable in my eyes, especially since I've never learned manual.

Quote:
It employs the same lightweight 3.0 litre flat 6 which powers the Outback, but the bore has been upped on the throttle chamber and a quick reaction accelerator has been fitted lifting low-end torque response.

The cam profile has also been altered to improve the shift schedule of the 4-speed automatic. The rumoured 5-speed auto did not surface in this lineup addition but Subaru have confirmed that a 5-speed automatic is under development. It still pumps out 162kW.
VTD (Variable Torque Distribution) has been combined with the legacy's 4WD system to achieve even greater cornering potential.
Legacy fans are excited at the prospect of more power in a GT in whatever form. As quoted above, it sounds like they tuned the RS30 H6 to be a little peppier. Additionally, VTD has only been available in the WRX. That would be a nice change from the 90/10 power split in the 4eAT GT.

These features add up to a fairly desirable future GT. Unfortunately, they might also add up to a price over $32k.

May the B4 be with you!
