That sucks big time... Kalihi is a rough place. I hope everyone is OK. However, Jubilee's is pretty good!

Four rampage suspects remain at-large

By Brandon Masuoka
Advertiser Staff Writer

Four men who police say show "little regard for anyone’s safety" remain at large following a series of robberies Sunday in which they assaulted victims, smashed car windows and brandished various weapons.
The robberies occurred between 1:30 a.m. and 5 a.m. at Jack the in the Box in Kalihi, a 7-Eleven in Kailua and a Chevron gas station in Pearl City.

"We’re seeing them escalate in violence," Detective Letha DeCaires said of the suspects. "They’re very quick to increase in violence and violent behavior."

According to police, here is how events unfolded.

The robbery spree began about 1:30 a.m. at the Kalihi Jack in the Box, 2317 N. School St.

Four men approached at least two vehicles in the drive-through area, asking for cigarettes and rides. Both vehicles sped away.

The men then approached the next vehicle, a Navigator, and smashed the windshield before the driver could pull away.

One man approached the driver of the fourth vehicle, a Subaru, and asked for a ride. The three other men then converged on the vehicle, opened the doors and assaulted the two occupants. The driver got out and was able to rescue his female passenger before the robbers fled in his Subaru.

At about 4 a.m. the robbers drove up to the Kailua 7-Eleven at 1247 Kailua Road.

One robber entered the store wielding a black wooden baton. A second man entered with a white bandana over his face. The two stole cigarettes, food, money and an employee’s purse and fled in what was believed to be the stolen Subaru.

The Pearl City Chevron station at 777 Kamehameha Highway was the next target. The robbers drove up at about 5 a.m.

One man, wearing a dark-colored knit cap, entered the station and tried to buy gas with a roll of nickels. While the register was open, a second man entered the store armed with a knife and wearing a white bandana over his face. He yelled that he also had a gun. The robbers took money and fled in the same stolen Subaru.

Kalihi patrol officers spotted the stolen Subaru at about 5:12 a.m., abandoned at Kalama Road and Hiu Street. Four men were seen running toward Kuhio Park Terrace.

Anyone with information on the suspects or the robberies is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 955-8300.

I believe 2.5 I.D.'d the car as the one usually parked near Pohukaina & Kamani St. I think we've also seen him in the Kalihi-Palama area. I once left him an invitation to join us at autox. He never called. South may have spoken to him a while back. Too bad it happened...
