There's usually some cool stuff to look at there for sure. Right now Joy's car is sitting in the showroom and I've seen some other nice projects floating around the shop too.

8hrs for giggles! Jeez. It's only 3-3.5 for me each way. I don't even own a Subaru anymore but would still like to see the shop.

Probably the best description of RA I've ever heard: concrete canyon.

The only place I've been more nervous is T1 at CMS.

No pics yet but the carbon flat bottom panel has been ordered. Also Ian did a custom tranny mount which is much lighter, solid mounted, and allows better exhaust clearance for the flat bottom. Wiring harnesses are done and being shipped out today so those will probably go in the car next week. Getting close to starting it up for the first time!

Solid mounted? No flex/no give? I'm assuming you have some amount of flex in motor mounts...

no, don't have to. the downside of course for a DD is that the vibrations/resonance is conducted right through the chassis.

not really an issue on a track car...

OK. Surprised. I thought that without something it would eventually fatigue something from all the torquing. I have group n and/or Whiteline stuff on my track car. All my Subie track buddies do, too. Two are dedicated track cars like mine.
I'm certainly not concerned with NHV; I can hardly think it's so loud inside the car.
Is this the norm with highly competitive cars?

It's actually a cusco tranny mount on a solid steel crossmember so there is a little bit of urethane in there. It just eliminates that stock tranny crossmember with the rubber bushings in it. The main reason it was done was for exhaust clearance but it also happens to be 1/3 the weight of stock and eliminate a lot of movement.

Went through and read all 70 pages in the last few days. This thing looks incredible! Cant wait to see in car videos of it in action.

Great Job!

I just finished reading through all 70 pages as well. Your car just became my favorite on the forum. Best wishes to you Dan. It was great to see all of the most knowledgeable Subaru guys in the US viewing and helping with your car. Show car detail into a race car is not something you see very often.

It's getting there, not much left to do. I'm waiting on the wiring, which supposedly shipped to me earlier this week. Racing in Spec E30 has been keeping me sane, I'm doing another race weekend in the Drive Gear car in March.

Yes I am actually looking at doing some USGT races. I've heard good things and it seems pretty competitive. The to do list is getting pretty short, right now it's mostly a matter of waiting for some parts to arrive to finish things up.

E30 spec races are very competitive if u have a good field... similar to the spec miata's... i've raced in a couple spec miata's and holly contact everywhere! Bump-drafting all day!

Oh yeah, those guys aren't afraid of contact It's very competitive though and usually a 15-20 car field in my region. Lots of fun and it teaches you a lot about race craft when all the cars are equally prepared (more or less).

I saw your carbon fiber undertray yesterday. I love it, but I wouldn't want to be the one changing your oil!

Ha yeah not the easiest job anymore, although once the dry sump goes in it'll be a pain anyway since the tank and lines will have to be drained.
