Good call marky mark, I'll look into that. Lame update (no pics): The wiring harnesses and modified steering wheel with push button switches are here and they look AMAZING. The rest of the electronic components will be here next week and then everything can get mounted in the car and ready for setup and calibration.
Also my brand new Smartycam is for sale, PM me if you want it. |

Still in the stock position, they were just reinforced.
Things are moving along, the wiring harnesses are installed in the car and my new seat and harness are here. All the parts are here for the engine rebuild as well. I'm trying to decide on a clutch and leaning towards an Exedy carbon triple. |

hi! I am trying to make the same exhaust setup as you. My carbon driveshaft just arrived and i find a warning on it that bonds must not exceed 150 degrees Celsius. How are you planning to prevent this? To wrap all the exhaust with a exhaust wrap? Or to make a thermo screen? Or you think the temperature wont exceed 150 degrees?
Thanks in advance! |

That's 302*F. You shouldn't have to worry, I wouldn't think. Your EGT by the time it approaches your drive-shaft will be less than that. Add the fact that your hottest temps occur while going fast, should be fine.

We're working on some airflow to cool the tranny and exhaust, and the exhaust will probably be either wrapped or ceramic coated as well.
We have encountered some setbacks with the electronics and I made the last minute decision to switch to a MoTeC M130 ECU. The cabin wiring harness is being modified to suit the new ECU and we should be good to proceed with the setup and getting the car started and moving under its own power. |

What caused you to make the switch? Who is going to do your tuning? I'm curious who has experience with MoTeC and the Subaru. I have an M800 I may put in my car.

Neel from Apex Speed Technology is doing the setup and tuning. He is in SoCal though so I may end up contacting Franz Diebold since he is a very well respected local MoTeC tuner with lots of subaru experience. |

I don't really know the full story but at this point, I am not really confident in the stability of cosworth electronics in the US. Some things happened that really turned me off to using their product. It is causing a bit of a setback since the main wiring harness was already built for the SQ6 but it's better to do this right the first time. So the harness is headed back to apex to be modified for the M130.

Probably should see some new pics soon. I know IAG is in the process of doing a bunch of construction on the shop and moving things around so I doubt posting pics is a priority at the moment. The undertray looks amazing though, very cool stuff.

Good to see you too Ken. I thought about staying but the sleet/snow wasn't too appealing and drivegear offered me a credit for next month at summit so I took that instead of risking the car in those conditions. Plus I still have summer tires on my car and even leaving at 10am, the first 2 hours of my drive home were white knuckle to say the least. I think I saw at least one accident or car in a ditch every mile.
Not surprised in the least that Robert won again He's hard enough to beat in the dry but he really seems to dominate in the wet. |

Your build is awesome, and when this is finished it will be very fast on corners. Any plans of putting a dry sump oil system?

Yes IAG is working on a dry sump system for the car. Most of the components are off the shelf, they just have to design a pan and figure out how to mount the pump.

I do believe IAG will have the kit available for sale once it's tested and proven but not 100% sure. They do want to design their own kit though rather than use ARE. Not sure what you mean by reconfigured.

That's good to hear that we will have more options!
Reconfigured as in using seals designed for high crankcase vacuum pressures. Most oem engine seals are designed to hold fluids in, not keep air out. Sometimes one of the tricks engine builder will do when building a motor for a dry sump system is to install the oem seals backwards. I'm not sure if you have find seals like Peterson fluid systems makes for dry sumped motors for the sizes the ej257 would need. Do you know how many stages they are planning to use? I would recommend the goodridge 910 Kevlar hose with the convoluted Teflon liner, friend lost a sb1 race motor due to his dry sump pulling enough vacuum to suck shut one of the lines from the oil tank. |
