Default New OBD II Connecter

About a month ago I was pulling out my usb cord from my OBD II connector when the usb port deceided to break off from the connector, a body of mine said to call cobb and tell them what happened, so i did but unfortunately they weren't very helpful. They told me the only way i could get a new connector (for free 99.) was if i could send them in the original box with a number on it (do not have anymore) I told them it was thrown away a while ago, and the chick basically said the only other way to get it was to pay 80 bucks to get a new one. my question is does anybody know a way around this? Please, its not urgent but i would like to use my AP everyonce in a while.

thanx
