One of the best known tuners (to me anyway haha, not sayin we don't have good tuners here in UT ), Clark Turner, lives in my hometown (Phoenix, AZ). His stage 2 map is what I am running on my car, and it runs fantastic. It is usually extremely difficult to get a Clark Turner tune because his schedule is so tight, BUT... if we can get at least 8 cars together, Clark Turner will fly up here and do some road tunes for us. He does open source, cobb ap, and all kinds of ecus.

His charge is $300 per tune. An initial deposit of $100 is necessary. So who is interested? Once we get enough cars, I'll set up a date for him to fly up here and do some tunes.

1. Momosaurus WRX (Yes)
2. SXti (Yes)
3. 06HAWKMAN (Maybe?)
4. wantsti (yes)
5. mgate01 (yes)
6. RicersWetDream (Yes)
7. tintran (Yes)
8. scoobydoo7 (yes)

April 17th is the tentative date, and we're meeting at SXti's house at 9:00 AM ish. That's the plan for now.

ps, if you want more info on him, check out his website: www.clarkturner.com

Where are we doing road tunes? I dont want to be doing pulls on the street and get pulled over and have to pay a ticket.

Will he tune other cars too? For instance a corolla with megasquirt engine management, or is he strictly subaru?

He tunes subarus, mitsubishis, nissans, hondas, and toyotas here are the systems he uses:
* Cobb Protuner / Cobb Access Port
* Open Source / custom flashes
* TurboXS UTEC
* Hydra stand alone
* Link Stand alone
* AEM EMS
* Motec
* Haltech
* Tec1,2 and 3
* Hondata S300 and Kpro
* Split Second
* Greddy Emanage
* HPturners
* SCT custom maps

As for where road tunes will be done, I'm not entirely sure. I haven't gotten that far in planning. This is a feeler, and not many people are biting

If the details get worked out I would be down. Also, according to a few people there should be a dyno in SLC in march.

if there is going to be a dyno, will his rates change because you will be paying for the dyno time as well. $300.00 for a tune plus another $125 an hour is a pretty steep tune.

this is true, also I'm only assuming that if we do get a dyno in march that the location also has a tuner in house. So that might be a better option.

I'll look into a deserted airstrip. I know there were some in AZ, there has to be some around here.

Still in the works. But it is planned to have an AWD Mustang similar to the one at Cobb tuning.

I am down for this, however I thought his E-tunes were cheaper? Also would like to know where tuning will be done as I am not down to speed on the freeway to get tuned.

his e-tunes are cheaper, but a road tune is always better. Sometimes when tuners do e-tunes, they forget to accommodate for certain mods or doesn't accommodate correctly. I avoid off the shelf maps or e-tunes as much as i can because of that. I am still attempting to figure out where to do the tunes. I'm currently looking into old air strips, but haven't found any very close.

E-tunes for the loss Tony. There are just too many variables that can be overlooked. Plus you have a ton of data logging and map revisions that can take months to really get the car right.

Road tunes are risky as well. Cops, accidents and lack of consistency. Plus, do you really want to get tuned on winter blend Gas? Best time to tune is the summer, when it gets hot and your more prone to DET.

Don't mean to thread jack, if you want Clark to come out, by all means... Do it. I'll be patient and wait for the Dyno.
