Default What EGT's are you guys with Stage 0 are seeing??

Hey all:

I got my Defi gauge permantly mounted on my car now and have bin playing around on the high way to see what the egt's do.

Now I think I might need a little more fuel in my uni-chip to cool down My open loop ETG's

The highest I have gotten is 925c at 7000rpm in 4th gear about 120mph. Boost was about 14.25psi

In 3rd I did not go pass 900 at red line.

Now I mounted the probe in number one about 2in way from the port.

I hear the defi gauge might read hight but the boost is dead on to my other boost gauge. (blitz turbo timer gauge).

Mods
Stage 0
Cobb intercooler hoses
K&N and a haked silencer.

Give me some idea of what EGT's other stage 0 are having. I have lowered my boost and it has helped out I now run under 900c.

Thanks
Eric

Thats a little on the high side in my opinion. Shiv tuned my car and we ended up with 850C at the end if third gear. I was told that 900 is pretty damn hot..

925C converts to 1697F. It is just a bit high, but we'll try my "special enriched" unichip next weekend and we'll see what we get If it does work (and I'm pretty confident that it will), we'll make a copy of my program for you, or we'll go out to Pruven.

I'm going to hold out until stage 1 comes out and then have it tuned by Pruven it the High ETG's are there. When I got 925c it was in 4th gear, (long pull).

Ye Danny let's see what your map does.

Eric- we've talked about this before and yeah, mine look to get around 1700f as well.

As you know, I have doubted the accuracy of my EGT set-up... perhaps thats just denial...

For those who don't know, I run an Autometer Sport-Comp electric gauge with a Westache sender tapped into the exhaust manifold right where cylinders 1 and 3 merge.

While my gauge only registers 1600f (had I known I would be running hotter than that I would have bought something else...) it "looks" to travel the distance of another 100f after 1600f on a long pull in 3rd gear and 4th gear....

1st and 2nd are fine and things really dont start cooking unless I am above say 4 or 5k.... in 4th or 5th. 3rd gear only cooks over say 5500-6000k.....but I do not get ANY CELs either.

def

BTW Eric- thanks for the deal on the springs... but I dont think I wanna drop the rex that much when I finally get something... again thanks though... i appreciate the gesture!!

Your welcome DEF..

The Etg seam fine around town and on the high way they just start to really cook on 3rd at over 5500 rpm. I really think a Little more fuel up top will help the Etg.

Yet again I'm blaming this on the Samco hose. I can hold much more boost with the Samco then with the stock hose. For example at 15psi of boost at 4000rpm in 4th gear I will only tapper off to about 13.5 to 14.22 Depending on how long the pull is and how cool the intercooler is. With the stock hose I will tapper off to 12psi at red line, with the same boost setting.

Now with the SBC-ID I'm sure that the boost is much higher up top because of the gain offset.

I installed Samco IC hoses yesterday (on top of a stage 0, minus the uppipe, until I have time to install it), and during my test drive, got a CEL for high exhaust gas temperatures. It was a hot day (for Rochester). I'm curious to see if it will happen again. Right now, I'm running about 13.5 lbs. I turned it down until the IC hoses settled, since fitment wasn't the best. If I make it around town safely today, I'll probably turn it back up to about 15. An EGT gauge is going in once I have the uppipe in. Anyone know what temp you need to reach to throw a CEL?

Adding fuel will not help the supposed problem (I don't believe EGT's at that temp are a problem)
Run more timing and the egt will drop just be careful you don't go too far it will go bang, upside the car will go better with more timing too.

Bigger turbo will also drop temps as gas pressure in mainfold is lower

,

No, I'm pulling timing up top so adding fuel would do the trick.

It's fact (i was on a dyno and made peak hp at 5200rpm instead of 6000 rpm witch would mean the ECU is pulling timing and more fuel is need to compasate the advance and higher boost that is substained over 5200rpm.

Thank you for the insight that was my first thought by the way until I looked over my dyno sheets.
