Default Fuel Brand Observation

For some reason when I use Shell 92 gas my car feels more responsive and it just feels faster in general.

When I fill up with Chevron 92 the car seems laggy and not as responsive. I switched back couple of times and noticed same thing every time. Maybe its the winter blend?

My question is that if you guys experience same thing?

btw.. my car is stock and on a stock tune. I'm just puzzled why would it make such a difference were I can actually feel it.

Thanks

Shell has been reported as one of the top tier gas stations, I think Texaco is up there too.

I'm such a snob I will actually go out of my way to find a Shell, even when the needle is dangerously close to "E".

Sunoco is also awesome, but you can't get it near me.

Wow. In the Portland metro area of Oregon we have found the opposite to be true. Chevron makes for a more consistent tune,..... and the Shell,.. not so good.

Maybe the guys at Cobb/ Surgeline will see this thread and comment on their findings.

I agree with you man... The shell always seems a little bit down on/off boost...

Chevron just seems to make my car run a little happier for some odd reason.

Probably not a coincidence you all have good experiance with Shell and Chervon, both are top tier.

http://www.toptiergas.com/retailers.html

Not sure how much of this 'top tier' is just marketing, but above is the list of retailers.

Same here.

I fill up at stations across the state. Gulf, Phillips 66, Citgo, BP, Shell, etc. and I haven't had one that I felt "made my car perform better."

I found that Costco gas made my wagon much slower than the "tier" gas stations simply because I was carrying more weight from a fatter wallet.

I think SCC Magazine did a test on all the major gas companies, Shell won . . .

I find out I get better MPG on shell. Only was since I live around the country I hit a few small station at the start of winter that must not sell 93 that much. My local Shells went to winter blend early. The small ones I was getting summer blend till about a month ago. I hate winter blend less MPG and feels like less HP/TQ.

2nd that Shell isn't good around Portland, I always use Chevron or Union 76. My car runs great on both. I've never had a car that ran well with Shell.
