Nice video! I've always been curious about the whole clipped on thing, I was afraid I was going to break the bumper. How about putting the bumper back on once it's off? Is there any special trick to getting the clips back in?

No trick... just leave the bumper aligned and press against it until it clips in.

btw... I made that video.

Nice contribution to the community After you get all the clips off, what do you do with the bumper? I'd imagine you'd have to pull the bumper up as you're pulling it off. Now I can finally get some supertones and fogs and install them

Nope... The bumper will literally fall off after you get all the clips off. ( Which is why I placed those two screwdrivers in the holes to hold the bumper on the car )

I also took advantage of the moment and installed PIAA sports horns & a really clean HID install (I aimed them down and switched cars with a friend so I can see what other drivers see... passed my test) I have yet to edit that video & upload it.
If you look at my channel... I have "How to" videos of: How to remove the headlight, Disable daytime running lights & how to remove the front grill.

It's easier than the front. I think its just remove the tail lights , 2 bolts each. Then the rear bumper cover is held on by the same plastic pushpins as the front bumper. Work your way from top side of the rear bumper to the underside taking them out, and it practically falls off.

Just came across this while trying to troubleshoot a bumper issue, thanks for posting the video!

tomazwrx, I was wondering if you or anyone else here could advise me on the cheapest way to fix my bumper. Really not the bumper, but undercarriage plastic to which the bumper is clipped in front of the wheel.

I clipped a snowbank back in '09 (I like to drift in snowstorms and was just getting used to the lighter weight of a wrx vs. an old Ford Explorer) and I broke a few of the little side clips shown in your video and mangled the plastic undercarriage the bumper is clipped onto. This got worse over time and I had to cut off parts of the mangled plastic undercarriage to prevent it rubbing on the tire, and eventually cut off enough that the side of the bumper has nothing to clip onto other than one remaining clip. The rest of the clips broke or fell off. Now the bumper is held in place on one side with zipties which occasionally break due to cold and vibration, and the whole thing is a lot less sturdy than it used to be and I'm worried about wind vibration tearing the whole thing off at speed.

Does anyone know where I can order a new plastic undercarriage or even what it's called so I can search for it? Has anyone solved this problem with a jury-rigged fix that's free and worked? Mainly looking for peace of mind, not returning to 100% stock plastic.

Thanks

Does anyone know what those clips are at 0:55 of the video where you have to push them in to take out. I broke those clips and need to purchase replacements.

If you're willing to dish out the $$$ for protection, you could get an aluminum skid plate that will undoubtedly protect much better than the crappy plastic one.

Where can I find one at? I've only been able to find stuff for 08+ STI. would it match up to the 11 WRX?

I want to see a video of him putting it back on, that's what I'm scared about, getting the clips lined up and in right. Would hate for the thing to be not lined up perfectly.

Was in the middle of trying to install my sports mesh grill on my '09 2.5i and got to the point where I couldn't get the bumper away from the fender. I felt like I was going to break the damn thing, but I was doing the exact same thing you did, just wanted to make sure it was the correct way to do it. Well, back out to the cold dark muddy driveway to finish.. uhhggg.

-gave ya a thumbs up on Youtube.
