Default Stock looking more HP with just turbo and injectors/fuel pump?

I have an 04 sti stage 2 with stock intake with 36000 miles, stock clutch Mods are borla header, AVO turboback with highflow cat and tune.

I want to retain a stockish looking engine bay and get ~310 to 330whp and maintain driveabilty.

Dont want to have to do loads of mods, run meth or high boost. Dont want to blow my engine (I rarely open it up buy would like some extra power when I do.

Can I just go for a bigger turbo, new injectors and maybe fuel pump plus tune? Dont mind a bit of extra lag, and dont need capabilty for even more HP. Dont launch so would like to put another stock clutch and flywheel in if/when this one goes, just needs to be able to handle HP for 2nd gear and upwards onramp accel. No drag, just my DD so needs to be reliable.

Willing to do motor mounts and diff mounts too.

Just wanted to get some opinions before I call the shop to get their input. Done some searching but aint found what want yet. TIA.

i no nothing about the 04 sti but with the TBE, tune and header your not over 300hp?

a 20g with thoughs mods would be more than enough to be over 310hp!

again i no nothing about the 04 but my little vf52 at 17psi with TBE, CAI, UP, 3port EBCS, LWP and fuel pump next week for a tune will be around 300-310hp.

Stock they are 240 hp to the wheels iirc so I would imagine stg 2 with my mods is prlly only 280 whp, depending on dyno type.

Sounds to me like a good plan.

I don't know if you've ever seen a 20g turbo... It sure as hell doesn't look stock.

I'd suggest having your stock turbo modified to hold a larger compressor wheel, like an 18g wheel, or something. That would absolutely look stock, but net you around 40whp more without any more mods (other than a dyno tune) putting you in the 290whp-300whp range.

20g all the way. That should get you 300whp on pump gas pretty easitly. If you mean stock looking, just take a stock location turbo and put the stock heatshield over it. It's going to be awesome!

I haven't seen a 20 g before but if it bolts to the stock position with all the stock piping with the stock tmic then I'd give it a go. Thanks for the help guys. I'll ask around on some other boards and see if anyone has done this

Just get a pro tune. Should get you close to 300 whp with the mods you already have. A 20G would be a waste for you imho.

I'm thinking an 18g may be the way to go. I'd like 330 whp

well mine stock is only 220-230hp. of course depending on dynos, other 09's are putting down 285-295hp with only TBE, CAI and pro tune!! so u gotta be there or more with a header. go pay $50 for a base run and at least see.

the only thing im confused on is you want 330hp but you dont want high boost. whats high to you? high to me is over 18psi because my tuner says hes seen stock BPV and TMIC crack because there made of plastic. but if i replace them (high to me is 21-22psi), then im fine up to 18-19psi because then the fuel pump and injectors are maxed out. i think getting your stock turbo up to its potential first is the better way to go instead of dropping $1200-$1700 on a new turbo plus the PITA install.

try this on. i think with 3 types of dynos out there all reading different from one another id guess average your at 300hp. if your looking to run a bigger turbo, lets say a 20g. your gonna spend about $1500. you could prob get to 330hp on maybe 18-19psi. but you'd have to get injectors, fuel pump and tune bringing your total to about $2325. hope that your tuner says your fine with your stock BPV and TMIC, if not totals more like $3200. now your happy

option 2. get fuel injectors, fuel pump, better TMIC, CAI, 3 port EBCS, BPV, UP, pro tune at 20-21psi maybe and only spend $2100 doing it.
