Thumbs down Sti on the side of the road... BS

I'm sitting here waiting for aaa because the car ran out of gas. The needle still has travel and the light only came on like 5 minutes ago. Blah.

Looks like your gauge or the floater is broken. I have this in my hyundai beater... left me stranded one day with more than an "1/8" of a tank.

This is a common issue on the STI. I purchased a fuel gauge sender unit just recently.

So, I ended up waiting for about 90 minutes total. I told AAA over the phone that my car requires 91 octane or higher. The local dispatcher called 20 minutes later, and I also told him about my fuel requirement. Just before the 45 minute maximum response time, the truck arrived, with 87 octane.

The guy insisted "It's fine, I've been doing this for years and it hasn't broken anyone's car yet." So I told him "If you will sign a document that you or your company are responsible for replacing my engine at full cost if this fuel causes damage to it between here and the nearest gas station, fine." He wouldn't agree to that, so I had to wait another 25 minutes while he drove to the gas station and came back.

Awesome.
