Default 2010 Porsche 911 Turbo S revealed

The new 911 Turbo S is powered by the six-cylinder boxer boosted by two exhaust gas turbochargers with variable turbine geometry and carries an extra 30 hp comparing to the standard Turbo, delivering a total output of 530 hp (390 kW) and an impressive 700 Newton-metres of torque (516 lb-ft).

Despite the power increase, the car shows a fuel consumption of just 11.4 litres/100 kilometres (equal to 24.8 mpg imp), which means that its is one of the most efficient sports car in its performance class. The 911 Turbo S comes exclusively with seven-speed Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) (Porsche’s Double-Clutch Gearbox) conveying drive power to Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel drive.

Also, the Dynamic Engine Mounts and Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) including a mechanical differential lock on the rear axle is offered as standard. In conjuction with the Launch Control on the the Sport Chrono Package Turbo likewise featured as standard, the 2010 Porsche 911 Turbo S can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds while from standstill to 200 km/h in can sprint in 10.8 seconds. Top speed is 315 km/h or 195 mph. In order to stop in time, the care features the extra-light and fading-resistant Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB).

Other standard features include Dynamic Bending Lights, 19-inch wheels in RS Spyder design with central locking, a three-spoke sports steering wheel with gearshift paddles, adaptive sports seats, cruise control, a CD/DVD changer and exclusive twin-tone leather upholstery in Black/Crema or Black/Titanium Blue additionally underlines the outstanding class and calibre of this first Turbo S in five years.

The new Porsche 911 Turbo S will be available as both a Coupe and Cabriolet in May 2010. The price tag for the Turbo S Coupe is €173,241 including 19 per cent value-added tax and local equipment in the market (the Euro base price is €145,400). The 911 Turbo S Cabrio carries a price tag of €184.546, again including 19 per cent VAT and local equipment/specifications (base price €154,900)

At least they fixed up the stupid +/- buttons on the steering wheel with proper shift paddles.

It is absolutely a beautiful car, but it looks like every other 911 for the past 15 years. I'm not saying make radical design changes, as I myself like evolution rather than revolution in design terms when you have a classic, iconic car (which the 911 is), but the appearance just seems so "seen-it-before-1,000-times"..........
