really now, when i used to have a fish tank a few years ago, i would go to big al's since they had lots of selection and stock for fish, and somewhat ok pricing.
didnt know they were bought out by another company. so now their pricing is alot higher i assume??

It is the same owner, he just decided not to stay with the franchise. The owner loves dogs so now big als (island pets) now has a large selection of dog "stuff".

As for the edge, you can find it either at petcetra or aquariums west (in downtown). They go for roughtly $200 for the setup + options (decorations)

Yep, Island pets still has the same owner they just changed their name to get out of the franchise business.

As for the Fluval Edge you can goto Fraser aquarium, PJ pets, aquarium west(as jonney mentioned) and a few other places.

King Ed's has one on display that's setup. And yes, the people on BCAquaria already have them. I know of 2 members. Are you on BCAquaria, bender? Lots of pics of actual setups on their. If you're into fish and live here, that's the place to be. Lots of good deals and good advice. Not quite as OT as the VIC though.

Oh ya King Ed has it the cheapest by far, I believe its 159.99$ there opposed to all the other shops which range from 179-199.

Yep, I spend almost all my time on BCA nowadays, as I don't have as much time for the cars or bike now that I have 2 kids.

not on there, but thx for the heads up.

I had a salt water aquarium years ago and got out of it when the fishy died. I just want something small for my condo and that set up looks pretty cool

I have a pretty nice set up. I have a mixed African/South American cichlid tank right now with a few nice cat fish. Very nice sand/rock/drift wood set up. Very nice colors of fish too! Got a fruval 400 and a AC 70 filter too 

Love it

Thought I would just pass that on lol.

Very, Very nice. I will try and get a picture of mine when I can. Its not a heavy planted tank by any means as my fish would eat and tare up them all if they were real lol.
Looks great though

very nice 2wheel. I was thinking about doing the same kind of set up were there's more plants than fish. is it hard to keep up?

At that level, it's a bit of work. I have a 10 lb CO2 bottle and a 65 W power compact light on it. It does require serious pruning every week. The Jungle Vals grow about 6 - 8" per week.

If you're worried about work, go with lower lighting and a shallower tank. I have a 15 gallon breeder (same footprint as the 20) running a Coralige t5 28 watt light. This tank is not injected with CO2. Just dosed with Seachem Excel and other ferts. The only thing I do is a 50% water change a week and maybe a pruning every 3 weeks.

Sorry about the eyesore of a cave in front, but it's for my plecos.

Some nice planted tanks, does anybody on here keep Discus?
I had a few before I moved and loved them, hoping to get some more soon.

My old tank (I needed stronger lights, the plants were pretty stunted)

I dont' keep discus myself but I do have a friend that does. Keeping them is not much different than keeping other fish besides the fact you have to run fairly high water temps. This means you have to be picky with your choice of plants (most plants don't do too well in the 84-86 deg F water).

Discus also love clean water, so keeping up with your water changes and running "extra" amounts of filtration is important. As for buying discus, check out april in the sponsor section of bcaquaria, nice fish at very reasonable prices. Just time your purchase to when she gets her shipments.
